I did this last year with a positive return. I just can't lay this much juice on any team. I can make a case for each dog, even Montreal of Nashville.
The beauty of betting the pups is that at any time in the series, you can hedge out. All it takes is for a split in any of the first home games. OR if any series goes to seven games, you can almost always scalp a few bucks, or even get bold and try the +1.5 route and hope for a middle at little risk.
Game 1 of a playoff series is where the favorite is most exposed. Series odds will be readjusted after each night, lots of room for value.
Someone talk me out of one favorite, I'd love to hear it. Remember, this is hockey. A goal off of a skate can change a series. This is not basketball where 85% of the time, the dominant team will win in a seven game series.

I like the WINGS over phoenix - detroit had alota injuries during regular season and alot of playoff experience on this team.
I'd like to see Choke team Sharks lose - but colorado has two key injuries to - Duchene ? for wed and Mueller has a concusion ? for wed . - with these two out I think young Av's in trouble unless Sharkie's CHOKE bigtime .
I'm going to play these doggies in regulation time in 1st games as all I need is o.t. and Juice for the +.5 is low.
philly +.5 +100 boston +.5 -110 lakings +.5 +100 and will play the same in game # 2
GOOD LUCK $$$ SKEETER

Skeeter, I realize Howard has been lights out for the past couple weeks, but he is a rookie goalie, and detroit is aging? Phx has a real netminder, and could steal one in Detroit.
No value in the +165 team that's starting at home?

Duchene is playing now for Colorado.

phoenix plays a defensive game....which travels....but expecting them to go and steal a game in Joe Louis is a bit of a stretch. Gonna be BUMPIN.
but you have a point---> they dont have to steal one, just take care of business. I got detroit +2150 and phoenix +2200 to win the cup so im just gonna hang out with this series.

Please, I will take the other side of all your bets. This isn't the regular season where teams don't show up at times. This is when it counts. I love all the favorites.

The pub is all over the caps...I`am playing habs for another 1st game upset. Both teams tonight that hade 80% or more on the fav...They both lossed the game.... I see 85% on the caps tomorrow....I could be wrong but i`am going to take my chances with da habs.

Thing is, I know that in the playoffs you need solid defense and solid goaltending. ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
Caps have neither of these.. Just ask the Sharks how it feels to score a million goals in the reg season and then be lost in the playoffs. 6:1? Are you kidding me??
With that said, I still think Was scrapes by, but not in 4 like the masses think.

not a bad move, bc all it takes is one hot goaltender to get past a fav in the 1st round as we have all witnessed over the years...
I just wouldn't take the habs to "blindly" prevail over the Caps fab14, who are def. on a mission of sorts after last yr's disappointment and Washington has 5-6 finishers who could score multiple goals on any given nite... plus Theodore is like 20-0-3 btw the pipes since like Jan. if memory serves...

xar, Theodore has been straight-up NAILS since the new year, so to say that the Caps don't have "solid" goaltending is just silly --- now, as to their D, you may have a point, but if the Caps can eliminate those "dumb" penalties that afford powerplays to their opponents, I think Washington's mediocre defense will step up, that's their only missing piece of the puzzle imo...

I just look it up both calgary and ottawa both lit him up in washington back2 back games ...both teams hade 3-0 leads in the first 10minutes into the game....I think washington is a firehouse of a team.... But there weakest link is there goaltending Peaceout.

Since JAN 13th 2010, Jose Theodore's record is INDEED 20-0-3, recording 2 shutouts during that stretch... he did NOT play long enough in the Calgary game to record an official "decision" as he was pulled in the 1st pd after that quick flurry of goals. Theodore's last official "L" was JAN 12th 2010...
I may be a "homer" and unabashed Caps "honk" but I know of what I speak... check your facts before castigating others here.

To clarify --- I never said Theo "was playing on his head", just that his record indicates he's playing well, and the Caps don't quite score 5 goals a game either --- and even if they did, well then just about ANY netminder would do. Obviously defense can be spotty for such an offensive-minded team as Washington, a team that kills teams in transition thru brisk breakouts, crisp passing, and a bevy of guys who FINISH and score goals --- they remind me a WHOLE lot of those 80's Edmonton juggernauts frankly... and btw, that Calgary game is his ONLY non-decision in that timeframe.
True, the playoffs are a different intensity level, but the Caps play at a high intensity regardless, and now they will take it UP a notch. I doubt the Habs can hang for more than a period or two tonite or ANY nite for that matter.
Listen, I am anything but just some "blind" homer, but shit man, we won the president's Cup for god's sake, most points, best record, so bet against them at your peril... Watch them rock the red tonite baby!

I can see that the "public" is ALL over the caps tonite at almost an 85% clip, but sometimes the "public" gets it exactly correct. In other words, tonite's opener against the canadians is not exactly what I would call a "fade-the-public" or "contrarian" kind of play... the Caps are favored and for good reason, they are nails at home in the phone booth. Washington is chomping at the bit so to speak, they have been looking forward to tonite since they wrapped up the East over a month ago, and it's gonna be a LOUD & PROUD environment this evening in D.C.
OV could go scoreless and the caps will still likely win the game, there is far more to this team than just #8 after all...
GL whatever you guys decide to do, the Caps ML is expensive but for good reason, and should they falter tonite vs a highly motivated Habs squad, so be it, but the Caps will be vying for the Eastern Championship in a month or so, of that I am very confident.

San Jose come into the post-season arguably having already "peaked", and they are looking like they are ANYTHING but "unbeatable"... the West AIN'T the best this year my friend.
If the Cup is a Caps/Sharks affair, Washington would prevail, of that I am certain.
Enough with the lame comparisons already...

PuhLEEZE...the Caps are NOT the Sharks dude...

Winning the president`s cup has been a curse ...in the last 20 years or more there only been 4or 5 to win the stanley cup and these teams that did win the cup hade a hard time in the first round....My flames won the predsident`s cup in 89 and vancity took us to game 7 and we won in overtime in game 7 .. There are some teams that just match up well against some teams...So don`t be shocked if the habs give you guys a good series...MR.confident.
