devils much better team and lots of value. thoughts?
Thanks for the post...First of all, I'm not a value player. Value plays don't make you money in the grand scheme of things. In any case, what makes you think the Devils are a "much better" team? The statement you make is quite subjective. If you were to look at the numbers throughout the season, then the statistics favor the Devils, however, as of late, the Caps have scored 15 goals over the last 4 games while New Jersey has given up 13 goals over the last 4 games. Recent trends such as these are just as significant to me as the head to head matchup. We all know know New Jersey is typically one of the best defensive teams in the league but very few teams in the NHL are solid two way teams. Usually, a team will have to give up a little in order to produce and that is happening with New Jersey. The Devils have only scored 9 goals in their last 4 games, 5 of which came in a win against the Flyers. So, currently, New Jersey is not playing sound hockey. In my opinion, New Jersey is pressing to open up the ice in order to create scoring opportunities but their game plan is leaving them vulnerable, defensively. When a team starts to lose it's identity by getting away from what was or has been successful, bad things tend to occur. Meanwhile, Washington is entering this game with a little swagger while winning 3 of the last 4, the lone loss was a 2-1 loss at the Rangers. After an atrocious start for the Caitals goaltending, Holtby has been playing much better and hes currently on a 3 game winning streak so we can assume that his confidence is back. Anoher key to New Jerseys success this season has been their depth as they've received a lot of offensive production from their 3rd line, however, Ryan Carter is out tonight and rookie, Stefan Matteau will be filling in. Though the Caps are last in the Eastern Conference, they're only 6 points out of the 8th playoff spot so every game, including tonight, is a huge game for them. I'm looking for them to continue their success in scoring tonight and I believe Holtby will be solid for Washington.

Hell of a game last night and congrats on your +money Philly win. I pray that Vancouver comes to play tonight....I think Luongo is the key to their long term success but many will probably disagree. It's all about Vancouver's psyche and with the games I've watched with Schneider in net, the Canucks haven't looked as crisp.
