Heading down to Vegas for the remainder of playoffs. Want to take 30k with me but do not how to carry that across the border without declaring.Staying at the`  HRH for a pretty good deal.Any thoughts on taking that kind of money with me? Thanks

Best to wire money to hotel, and then withdraw it as you need it.

off topic.. but, across from Hard Rock down the street is Ellis Island. you should sign up for William Hill or watch the game at any william hill book.. they offer Inplay wagering on NHL which is exclusive and good if you want to jump on those -- bring 3 friends to clear customs

I'm guessing you are coming from Canada since your team is the habs?  You did not clarify...

Carry cash.  If they ask if you have cash, tell them.  There is no law against carrying cash.

the better advice is to contact the border agents before your trip and ask them... use email and then you have it documented.

You can only take $10000 across (or back) over the USA border in any form....if they find out, and catch you, there are severe penalties...

Currency and monetary instruments of a value equal to or greater than $10,000, or its equivalent in a foreign currency which are not reported, may be subject to seizure and the assessment of penalties or forfeiture. Penalties range from $250 to $5,000.

I would recommend to leave your cash in the bank, and withdraw from an ATM (or a teller if ATM max is too low)....and then deposit it back (assuming you are up!) before coming home......have fun!
