Hi 'vrybody...I'm very new to all of this and picking things up quickly...i started out to ask a question...and i THINK I just figured it out myself...so bear with me while i "think out loud"...

hmmm...the acronym "PL"...must be the hockey equiv of "Run-Line"(which i've heard but never actually figured out cuz i just started in SBetting recently and never had a baseball game yet),...anyhow...
i'd guess both are versions of "Score-Line" which must be what is called the "spread" or "handicap" in basketball....meaning the number stated is folded into the final score of each time...so a fave has a -ve to overcome, and a dog gets a +ve boost. So a team can clearly lose the game...and you can win this type of bet if u bak them ...or a team can clearly win the game...while you lose this type of bet (as opposed to ML=MoneyLine which is a straight-forward thumbs up/down sit'n). Everything comes down to whether the spread/line/handicap is "covered" by the winner or not...

I know how it works so far in Basketball...and the AsianHandicap system for international soccer...at first I just wanted to know what PL stands for, but i'd rather sieze the opportunity to see how my "spidey sense" is coming along...
I'm a teacher (college economics/statistics, actually)...and am used to grading efforts = attempts (note the word in french meaning "to attempt" is "essayer", where we get the word " essay")...anyhow my short essay is between the lines...please correct any errors in my essay.

BTW, I'm starting my full-compliance "tail" of Weeble's picks , right here and now (i got pinnacle on the other monitor)...I'm in no hurry to learn (and profit from) this undertaking...and I am very risk-averse...so I'll be working with fixed "super chicken" units of 0.8% of starting (not rolling) bank..and I won't adjust it until I achieve a full bank-doubling (corresponding to a net gain of 125 units for me) at which point my units will double in fixed-$-value as I simply reset everything to this new double-sized "starting" bank.
Note: If I only had one bet to place a day, I wouldn't mind (and would actually prefer) a rolling-bank defn of a unit...but without being able to re-size after each result, a super-chicken is much better off with a fixed defintion and a set target-achievemnt threshhold for when to reboot that definition.

Again, any comments on my general approach (remembering my goal is long-term "surviving" as the precursor to eventual long-term "thriving".
Anyhow, I find all this stuff fascinating...and thanks for bearing with me while i continue to "think out loud"
NOW to place the three bets (each at just 0.8% of my bank...so any "woo-hoo-hoo-ing"/glass-clinking will be modest...but with Weeb's help...8 months or so down the road the cheers/glass-clinks will be MUCH more substantial
So Weeb, I'm with you for the haul bro...

finally, to clarify my bet placement...i'll bet dogs to risk exactly my one unit (being rewarded with a premium if they win)...and faves to earn a single unit (having to pay more than one unit for the privilege)...
Let the documented tail of Weeb's NHL picks begin right here on Sunday, Feb 20th (the 51st day of 2011...)
I'll update periodically if anyone's interested (even if not...i find it helpful to record my intentions)...
Weeb, you follow other sports, as well?..(i'm very new to/but very interested in) all this, and there's so many decisions/executions to do properly and so many potential mistakes to avoid...that having the "bet-selection" thing taken off my plate gives me a chance to succeed...with you doing the picking, I just gotta tend to the other three balls in the air as I learn to juggle...
Thanks to covers and weeble for the help.

TimDogs...you're a key reason how i got onto this thread, buddy...somebody askded for advice on who best to tail...and you listed several (including Weeble, here, of course)...and also said to "watch out for a guy name TimDogs this year"...
i"m happy to take your advice (start a thread)...where I'll document a "day-by day/play-by-play of how TimDogs and Weebs didn't lead me astray...by Ray"...but just 0.4% (a Super-chickenMcNugget-sized unit) on you for starters...
Started as a joke...but why not...I'll document a "careful beginners" experience with tailing Covers...starting with Weebs and you (still in half-joking mode. The big drawback is i'm dyslexic when it comes to forum-ware...hell, i don't even know how to quote somebody...

One thing tho'...if i do this, i'll need a secretary to help out...the avatars/pics of Outlaw96 and beantown6171 may apply for the position...(seriously tho'...being new to ISR..."Investing in Sports Results"...i have to say that the forum avatars are about the hottest PG-rated stuff this straight male has ever seen)...

Ray the fitguy, I hope Weebs goes through one of the worst losing streaks of his life in the next month just to teach you a lesson about copying other people's picks.
Then again, you're not really Ray the fitguy anyways, are you ?
Freaky creepy alias stalker is more like it. Let the banning begin !
