I'm all for women doing games, as long as they got the job for being the best at what they do of the available candidates. Something tells me that is not the case most of the time.

#1: They talk to much. They drown the picture with words. In my experience, the very best male announcers do not suffer from that affliction. (The worst male announcers also do). The picture matters most. You are there to ADD to the action, not surpass it or overwhelm it. In short, they must get anxious if they stay silent and feel they're not doing their job. A good announcer knows a crucial part of the job is shutting the F up at the right moments.
#2: They routinely interact with their co-announcers in ways that in no way relate to the game at hand. I don't GAF if you like fishing or golfing like your co-announcer does, we're watching a football game. Talk about the F'king football and devote personal interactions with those around you to the task at hand, not personal details. I don't care who you are, to me you're just a voice doing a job. You could be an AI android for all I care.

It's almost never the case. An exception is ESPN's Doris Burke. She knows hoops inside and out, and it's clear she does her homework on the players and coaches.

It's part of the war on men, specifically white men who used to hold the vast majority of sports broadcasting jobs. It's also a reflection of the hatred and contempt for the audience held by those in power of nearly all sports programming. So they're not going to provide us with the announcers we'd prefer to hear. They're instead going to impose upon us the announcers they want us to hear, and they don't mind/care how much it annoys most of us. In fact I'm sure some of them love it, because it's mostly "toxic" men doing the complaining. There's also some media companies simply scared to death of being smeared as misogynists if they don't begin going along with the trend of replacing men with women in the broadcasting booth.

PatsRoll5, be thankful for two things - that you were born decades before our society began getting everything assbackwards, and that you won't live long enough to witness the completed destruction of the country you loved and enjoyed for much of your life.

I'm a woman and I totally agree. Men are better at broadcasting the games
Honest women like Ju_lie will also likely agree that having obese women modeling clothing in advertisements does not help sell clothes. If clothes look awful on a woman who looks awful, then what good is that? How is a woman looking at an ad supposed to know if the clothes will look good on her?

Evolve or die…Sounds like most of you are old geezer gambling degenerates with a lot of time in your hands…If you don’t like to hear a female commentator, then simply turn the volume down…And do you old koots believe cross dressing, woke awareness, and other things you misogynist and close minded old fools don’t like just came out of the woodwork…They have always existed, you were just too obtuse to see it…

This is a smart post. No rational person could be opposed to a woman getting a job because she is the most qualified person. Unfortunately...that is absolutely not how it works most of the time. There is a woke ideology that is like a virus eating away at the fabric of our countries ( U.S. and Canada ). Fortunately for me...my 33+ years of service is coming to an end soon with retirement but working for the Feds...this stuff has become so bad that I have seen promotions in my unit given to people totally unqualified for the duties they are to assume solely because they check a box.
A lot of the private sector companies have come around on this issue and are rapidly moving away from DEI because they realize at its core...it is a discriminatory practice. Unfortunately...government and large corporations are saturated with woke ideology and are the last to move away from these practices. They only way to stop it is to speak out against it. Folks...up has become down...good has become evil...men claim to be women...people advocate cutting off childrens genitals while claiming young adults don't have the capability to distinguish right from wrong and shouldn't be charged with crimes. Make no mistake...however...this is all a calculated plan and not coincidence. History calls this practice divide and conquer. Sew chaos amongst the people and it becomes easier to assume power.
At the end of the day...for the most part...I believe that DEI stands for pretty much one thing..."Didn't Earn It".
I think there have been a few really talented female reporters in the NHL circuit. Katherine Tappan was certainly one and Emily Kaplin is OK IMO but there are quite a few that are obviously not up on the understanding of the sport.

@MrBator Just a guess, you aren’t a fan of P.K. Subban?
I think Subban is absolutely great on the intermissions. Even though I despised him as a player since I am a B's fan...I absolutely love his perspectives in between periods.
