Hey guys. While most of you are going to be taking a break during the holidays, I of course am going to gamble on the WJC.

 I am very excited for this tournament, it's gonna feature two players we are going to see dominate the NHL for a long time, Jack Eichel and Connor McDavid. These two and their teams should dominate the tournament, and if it happens it's gonna be pretty telling that they could make that happen as 17 years old playing in a tournament traditionally dominated by 19 years old.

I have been watching most pre-tournament games and have pretty good knowledge on most of the top players in this tournament. 

I like the US to win it all, however seeing both Canada and USA at + money to win outright in North America, I couldn't resist to bet the two of them. Almost feels like a freeroll to me. It's definitely not Sweden's year, and Russia team isn't on the same level as the two NA teams either. The defending champs Finland have a outside shot but it's gonna be tough for them.

Here are the bets I placed so far:

US to win Gold 
$775 to win $2102

Canada to win Gold 
$775 to win $1028

US over Sweden 
Best finishing position H2H - $316 to win $237

Gonna keep updating this thread will all of my bets during the tournament... this is some of the best hockey of the year. Can't wait. Good luck guys

Canada looks very good as always it will depend on our goaltending.

I am going to Canada/US on 31th in Montreal should be awesome game  BOL buds.

If Canada wins the gold you will end up loosing money ??

Can you please explain your reasons for betting on two different teams to win gold? If US wins you lose the majority of your profit, and if Canada wins you actually lose money.

If Canada wins he clears about $225.  If the US Wins he clears over $1,200?  Are you guys dumb Rangers fans or do you just suck at Math?

If Canada wins he loses money bcuz he bet 775 x 2 =1550 to win 1028 so lose 522. If us wins he gets 2102-1550=552 profit

Actually your wrong. I'm not a dumb rangers fan, and I don't suck at math. I'm simply new to betting, and unfamiliar with the way bets are expressed. I guess the original amount wagered is not expressed in the amount won.  It should  be, because when you bet $775 you are at that point down $775, and if your pick doesn't hit, that $775 is permanently down on your bankroll. And if you win your bet, you don't just win the profit, you also win your original wager back. He's not 'risking' $775... He is spending it. So to say he is risking $775 to win $1028... Is the same thing as saying he dropped $775 to win $1803. Either way,   betting on two teams to win gold makes it so much more important for one of those two teams to have to win for you, because if any of the three remaining teams that are capable of winning, wins, then you double your loss.

You said in your original post that if Canada wins he loses money.  That's incorrect.  

Now you ARE correct if CAN or USA don't win gold he loses both plays.  Thing is, by taking CAN AND USA, you are taking both huge favorites and they will probably meet in the finals.  If they don't meet in the finals, you have a good shot that one of them will win the final.  It's a smart move.

Not true.  If Canada wins he gets his $775 back from the Canada bet so he'll only lose the $775 from the US bet not $1550.

To win amounts in the OP do no include the bet amount. That it to say, if I win the bet I get my money back + the winning amount. So as long as Canada or the US wins gold, I win money. 

Canada have a great team this year, much better than last year IMO, but there are too many questions marks on defense and especially in goals to make them favorite. I think Vegas dropped the ball on this one and the USA should be favorites.

Fucale was drafted by my Habs and let me tell you... it is hard to trust that goalie. Comrie doesn't look like a world beater either. It is going to be a great tournament and when Canada faces tough competition, it is going to be about which team can score more goals.

I am already eyeing a few games for tomorrow, odds have come out on some books, but I am going to wait for pinnacle lines before capping the games.

Should be an absolutely amazing game.. some of the best hockey in the entire world right there. Lucky man :D

I agree that Fucale is a question mark.  This guy has just been handed the job, and Canada only invited 2 goalies to the camp.  TSN showed a great stat where they stated that when Canada went on their 5 year gold medal streak, their team goalie save % was either 1st or 2nd every time.  Meanwhile, in the last 5 years without gold, Canada has only finished 2nd once, and has been as low as 8th a couple of times.  Sadly, as a Canadian, I think goaltending may bite us again.  USA looks very strong, and I agree that it is a 2 team race.  If the Czechs didnt make a couple of boneheaded cuts, I think they would have had a real chance at a medal, and maybe they still do.

The Czechs were a team I was looking to back but the staff there seems most interested in punishing players that play in North America than actually winning the tournament, so I'm gonna stay cautious.

Locked in one play so far. Really want to back that USA team, and the -1.5 line at low juice was enticing, but Finland has great goaltending and this could be a low scoring affair. However, I still think there is value on the moneyline, backing the much superior team.

Such low max bets amount on this everywhere. Coming up with more plays soon. I am having a lot of fun doing this and I definitely see some value so I might end up playing every game, we will see.

Really think this line is inflated, Canada will be feeling some pressure in opening the tournament at home, and if they don't get the first goal early it might take them a little while to get it. Slovakia has a top offensive weapon in Reway and Canada always take too many penalties in this tournament, combined with most likely shaky goaltending from Canada I can see Slovakia scoring 2, and Canada are not likely to score more than 6. Really like this line.

Gonna be all for now, gonna watch some Russia tapes tonight see if I have a bet for tomorrow. Will most likely pass Sweden/Cze. BOL :)

If he really spent $1550 to win $1000 if cananda wins
.. As he said... Then he would be losing money. The difference is in the betting world you also add your original wager to your winnings withought mentioning it, Since I did not know this, winning 1000 after spending 1550 is losing money. So now that I'm told to add $775 to his winning amount he originally said he would win, then the correct statement would be that if cananda wins gold, he will win a little money.

So as for you saying its a smart move.. I'm new to betting, but betting $1550 to win $250 if the consensus favorite wins as expected, doesn't exactly strike me as a genius play.

What are you talking about. I simply was not aware that you always add your original wager to your winnings.  And I actually figured it out on my own. So people on here did not explain it to me pretty well. I was simply stating that if Canada wins the tournament you will profit $250 after wagering $1550. I do believe I understand that correctly, so why are you acting like I don't? And that I still do not understand that you always add your original wager to your winnings, when I clearly stated earlier that I do now understand that? You should try and be a bit more polite, less ignorant, and actually read what people write on here, before you start demanding people not post on your thread. After all it is Christmas. So relax. And by the way, Canada is going to win gold, so congratulations on your winning.
