I have no doubt that Atlanta and Thedeakon will rectify their starts. Thedeakon you have to remember that the great game of basketball was invented by a Canadian James Naismith so do your country proud and kick some booty up in here.

That's how we do it Str8. The running commentary is half the fun. But we're just getting warmed up. Wait till the storylines develop and Atlanta throws in his color commentary with his dry humor. It's the worth price of admission.

DAY 2 RECAP

THE VAMPIRE TAKES A HARD FALL!

The Vampire AKA Ds0589 must have took some strong amphetamines because he went absolutely bat crazy picking 29 games. It didn't go well for him as he went 12-17 losing 670 points. It's a real warning to those who want to follow in the footsteps of Ds0589. Patience will be a key in this first round.

Grambus now takes over the lead in this early action with 450 points. Phillyfan is right on his tail with 360 points. Gladiator newcome 24Secv is holding his own with 250 points. 24Secv has been steady in the early going. Battle Forum Vet Manny is in the spotlight holding down 4th Place. Mondo continues to struggle going 1-3 today for a combined 1-7 and -670 points.

UF, Gorzo and SBL have discovered that less than 1/2 of the folks on Covers can score above -0- in these contests, so that score should get them into the round of 16. Both are usually very selective in their picks regardless. When the object is to move on to the next round, it's not a bad strategy in the first round.

SBL always gets lost in the sauce the first couple of days. We had to send the Posse down to Mexico and rescue him again. Gorzo was MIA but we're happy to report that both Gladiators have now reported for Battle.

^ How can guys possibly move on to RD 2 without selecting any games ?   To me thats not participating & kinda Lame but thats just my opinion..  I know the object is to move on to next Round but you should have to actually make a play to do that.  

Its a Capping Contest, Cap some games..

JohnnyUtah with 85 plays selected in 3 days..  

Not really my idea of a True "Capping Contest" when guys are just shooting recklessly from the hip.. theres little to no capping skills involved when playing 50+ plays in 1 night. 

 Off to the races we go..  Im gonna go buy an ounce of Crystal that looks like a golf ball    so i can keep up with this pace..

DAY 3 RECAP

GORZO ENTERS THE FORUM NINJA STYLE!

Gorzo was MIA for the first two days. We sent a Posse out to find him but it was to no avail. Well it turns out Gorzo was in the mountains of Japan practicing his Ninja techinques. It worked liked a charm. Gorzo popped out of nowhere and with 34 picks he zoomed to 3rd Place with 460 points. Maybe we all should take Ninja lessons. 

Phillyfan took over 1st Place as it appears that he and Grambus are going to be battling for that top spot in the early going. Phillyfan has an incredible winning pct of 72.2%. Grambus continues to pick at a steady pace with a 64% pct winning pct. Manny is looking solid as he went 2-0 today to gain 200 points and jumped to 4th Place.

Don't look now but Thedeakon is the hottest Gladiator suddenly as he went 11-2-2 gaining 880 points. This is the type of madness we envisioned with this format. Brackson and Smoothd took huge tumbles. Brackson lost 880 points as he picked 30 games. Smoothd didn't pick as many but the pain was still bad as he lost 450 points as he went 1-5. Str8bcashomie is bringing up the rear currently at a woeful -1320. 

But just like Gorzo and Thedeakon have shown is that you can go from trash to Gold in Battle Forum V and that's the excitement of it all.

DAY 4 RECAP

PHILLYFAN AND GORZO IN ALL OUT BRAWL!

The blood is starting to spill in the Battle Forum as Gorzo went ballistic scoring 230 points and actually took over for 1st Place for a good portion of the day. But Phillyfan comes from the land of Rocky and fought back hard to take the top spot back. Only 10 points separate these Gladiators as the battles are starting to really heat up. 

Manny is sneaking up on the leaders as he continues his steady push. Manny has definitely learned from his first Battle Forum experience and appears to be a force to reckon with.  Grambus falls down a couple of notches but still is well within striking distance of the leaders. Grambus is only 80 points behind Phillyfan.

Teelocke our first female Gladiator has now won 6 in a row and has a nice hold on 5th place with her husband Sixbankz right behind her. This could be another Family Affair just like the brother combo of Upset City and Degosfinest.

Atlanta has recovered from his horrific start and has now moved into the 15th spot. We're not sure if it's because he's winning or the fact that everybody else is losing badly. Atlanta has -410. Crush has fallen down to the last qualifying spot after going 1-7 today. The 1st Round is 1/5 of the way now so it's time to start thinking about who's gonna make it to the 2nd Round as we enter our first weekend of Battle Forum V.

They're alot of Gladiators looking awfully bad especially normal Powers Upset City and Unstoppable Force. But there is plenty of time to right the ship and with this format anything can happen literally overnight. Nobody is out of the battle especially with 9 days left.

DAY 5 RECAP

GRAMBUS SAYS "PARDON ME BOYS"

Grambus busted up the PhillyFan-Gorzo war in a big way. Grambus gained 380 points with another win apparently pending. Grambus has opened up a nice 460 point lead over Gorzo who lost 150 points. Manny holds onto 3rd Place despite losing 220 points points. That's because PhillyFan fell flat on his face going 1-4 and losing 340 points. SixBankz took advantage of the bloodletting moving up to 4th Place gaining 100 points. SixBankz is playing it very conservatively in this round but it has served him well as he has won 5 of the last 6.

Smoothd is the biggest gainer of the day winning 500 points by going a perfect 5-0. Smooth has jumped up to 12th and is now over the Mendoza line as well. Upset City and Atlanta also did well winning 290 and 300 points respectively. 

JohnnyUtah is digging a hole that he may not be able to escape. The newcomer Gladiator has lost 1720 points in 2 days and is buried in last place with no sign of escaping. Johnny baby don't take the car you might kill yourself.

It's time to start thinking about the next round as Mondo currently holds the last spot 90 points ahead of Crush. Grambus is promising to go nuclear tomorrow so it should be a real interesting day in the Battle Forum for our first Saturday competition.

Going into the first Saturday of the first round, The Midwest Mafia has shed more blood than a steer in a Chicago slaughterhouse. Upset City, Mondo, and WBellhaven are going to have to do more than defend over the next 9 days, or the MM will have a belated Valentine's Day massacre to rival Chicago's first one. Only Degosfinest seems to be able to inflict more damage than he is receiving at this point to try and defend the "Family" name. Meanwhile, out west, Crush is talking to the wrong folks in Vegas. It appears he has developed his strategy with the old showgirls from the Riviera rather than the sharps in Wynn's. As for Smooth, he is treading water, will he make the final 16, or further his career as a pulp fiction writer? We'll know in another 8 days.

DAY 6 RECAP

WHAT. A. DAY.

Battle Forum V is living up to it's billing, pure madness has broken out. Where do we start? Let's start with the fall of grace by Grambus who went from 1st Place all the way down to 12th. Grambus lost an incredible 1070 points today. Unreal. Grambus wasn't alone in the madness as PhillyFan made 46 picks today but only lost 220 points because he had a .500 record. It was ugly early for PhillyFan but he bounced back late. Phillyfan and Grambus was apparently held at gunpoint by JohnnyUtah who forced them to keep picking. But JohnnyUtah takes the absolute cake for madness. He made an epic 196 picks. It's so bad at this point for JohnnyUtah that despite winning 101 of those picks he still lost 240 points. That gives JohnnyUtah a 3 day lost total of 2180 points. Somebody keep that man away from his laptop or cellphone please.

Lost in the mayhem is the fact that Thedeakon has taken over the top spot making 24 picks and gaining 300 points. Don't look now but Teelocke is now in the 2nd spot. Teelocke the only female Gladiator went a perfect 3-0 to gain 300 points. Manny had a nice bounce back day gaining 190 points. 24secv is back in the hunt after moving into the 4th spot.

We have a nice battle going for that last spot to qualify as Crush currently holds that spot down with Smoothd, Mondo and Taylorsallstars all fighting at the bottom of the qualifying spots.Ghostrunner is also making a move gaining 410 points. He was as high as 640 but has faded as the night wore on. 

After 6 days Battle Forum V has lived up to it's high expectations and just think we still have 8 days to go. It's going get even wilder as these Gladiators break out all the stops to make the 2nd Round.

@Atlanta What are your comments on JohnnyUtah making 196 picks having a above .500 winning pct and still losing 240 points. You just can't make this stuff up. Absolute epic madness going down in Battle Forum V.

Crazy Day in the Battle-Forum.    


Johnny's a wild dude man.. 196 plays in 1 day. All That Juice adds up though & thats why u see -240 even with a  .500 Winning PCT.  

22-22-2 is not my style but Johnny had me tied up & forced Coleslaw in my mouth until i hit submit on play after play.. How the guy knew i hate Coleslaw is beyond me..   

Finally the Posse showed up led by UForce & his massive biceps & his receding hairline. I was freed & made a comback to end the night and luckily juiced out..

I don't know what to say about JohnnyUtah, Smooth. I guess I'm just too old to be that opinionated anymore. Guess as a Gladiator, he's kind of like a tornado, spinning and striking anything and anyone while running into anything and injuring himself in the process. Was there any proposition he didn't pick yesterday?

As for Phillyfan, like the 64 Phils, he is proving the 1st round ain't done till the last spear is flung! At least it wasn't the last week for him.

Lots of us milling around the cut-off point. It will be interesting to see who the final 16 are. I'm just surprised to still be in the hunt.

DAY 7 RECAP

THEDEAKON TAKES OVER!

Thedeakon has fully recovered from his slow start and has risen to the top in this opening round of the Battle Forum. Thedeakon has piled up the points the last 3 days gaining 840 points in the process. He must be a quick learner after claiming to know nothing about NCAAB. 

For a brief moment yesterday TeeLocke was in first place. Not only has she broken the gender barrier in the Battle Forum but like Jackie Robinson she's lighting the place up. Keep it up TeeLocke we're rooting for you. 

DS0589 is the hottest Gladiator right now in the Tournament. He's gained 1290 points the last 4 days and is now challenging Thedeakon for the top spot. 24Secv keeps riding high with a solid hold on 4th place.

Now that we're halfway through the 1st Round we can make some assessments. It's interesting to note that we have 4 Battle Forum newcomers in the Top 10, SixBankz, GhostRunner, TeeLocke and 24Secv. SixBankz continues the tradition of the monthly winners doing well in the Battle Forum. 

The biggest mystery in the 1st Half has been the sudden implosion of Grambus who has lost 1440 points the last 2 days. Did Grambus also get kidnapped by JohnnyUtah or is he in full panic mode. We don't know but we do know that if the 2nd Round started today Grambus wouldn't make it. He's currently at #17, 250 points behind Crush who holds the last spot. The lower half of the Top 16 is filled with some heavyweights like Crush, Atlanta and Phillyfan. We also have some perennial powers lurking outside the Top 16 like Upset City, Unstoppable Force, WBellhaven and Hashbrowns. WBellhaven hasn't posted a winning day yet so you know what that means. He's gonna heat up this week. WBellhaven is always the Dark Horse factor in the Battle Forum.

It's going to be an interesting 2nd half of the 1st Round. This wide open format is just what we predicted it would be and more. It's been a wild ride and no doubt it's going to be even wilder this week.

This is the first time ever I have a winning record in NCAAB.It helps when I'm home all day for the next 6 weeks.  I have all day to check stats on all the games instead of only a couple of hours to check a few games when I come home from work.

Also it probably helps that I'm not wagering on any of these games.

Anyway good luck to all. There's still another week to go. As we see from Grambus and  JohnnyUtah things can turn around very quickly.

DAY 8 RECAP

3 WAY BATTLE FOR TOP SPOT ERUPTS!

TeeLocke has forced the issue with Thedeakon and DS0589. Thedeakon lost 140 points and DS0589 lost only 20 points but Teelocke posted her 3rd straight positive point gain when she put up 100 points. The front runners have learn the hard lesson of Grambus who continues to tumble down the standings like Humpty Dumpty. TeeLocke is playing it real conservative but it's working for her as she has the highest win pct in the Tournament at 76%. TeeLocke will be an inspiration to other women who will hopefully enter future Battle Forums. 

Phillyfan made his way back to the Top 10 zooming all the way to 6th by posting a 500 point gain after going 5-0 on the day. We're starting to see some separation now for that 16th spot as Atlanta has a 200 point lead over SBLCapital and 310 point lead over Hashbrowns for the last spot. Everybody is still alive with this wide open format as we enter Day 9.
