I really do have concerns over the impact his selection might have on the rest of the team. 

This group has just returned from the toughest away tour in world cricket and suddenly in walks Symonds on the basis of nothing more than a tick of approval from some psychologist and an assurance from "Roy" that he "feels good again"  

Don't get me wrong, I want Symonds in the Aussie team, and I think the team needs a firing Andrew Symonds, but he needs to do a lot more pennance before he earns the right to return imo.

That right there is the problem. The Australian selectors obsession with an all rounder. Never got it, still don't. Fuck Andrew Flintoff. The drunk got Gilly a few times with his reverse to a LEFT HANDED batsmen. Gilly could never handle the ball coming back into him.

Australia didn't lose that series because we didn't have a 'genuine all-rounder'. Rubbish.

ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY ! Australia dominated for a decade with six specialist batsmen and four specialist bowlers and suddenly they're panicked into "finding a Flintoff" after one losing series.

Allrounders are the biggest gamble in cricket because MOST of the time, MOST of them don't contribute significantly with bat or ball.

And in India Australia became a testing ground for "dibbly-dobblers" ala those disasterous England sides of yesterfar, with players who aren't up to scratch in either department. Cameron White .
