Take it for what it is worth because there is no doubt who the fastest guy in the world is BY FAR, but if you watched the qualification rounds, Bolt "jogged" to a sub-10 second time and I told my wife that I would be shocked if he didn't win it and it wasn't close!  He let up with 30+ metres to go and still smashed his own world record!  This coming from a guy whose specialty is the 200 metre race and just took up the 100 LESS than a year ago!  Oh, and by the way, he is 21 years old and if he wanted, he can run 9.4 seconds; there is no doubt in my mind!  This guy was clear of the field after 35 metres - he destroyed the best in the world and it wasn't close!  I knew he would easily win it and I wished I had bet on it but I wasn't even thinking about it!!!!

You seen Usain Bolt run the QFs and SFs?  Scary.
 
Anything can and will happen in something like the 100 where there is no room for error.
 
But Bolt is the one to beat, and there is no question about that.

Well, we'll see if all the medal winners get to keep them now that all the piss tests are to be done.
 
People can talk all they want, but there is no sport on the planet as dirty as track and field.
 
9.69 in 100 meters is farking astounding, especially when Bolt lets off the gas with 20 meters to go.  The sarcastic cynicism in me doesn't allow for belief, though.

He can't run 9.4.  I hope you weren't serious in saying that.

All sports are dirty.  Track is not the dirtiest, it's just that the heads in track actually try to clean it up and aren't afriad to kick out superstars who cheat.  It's amazing that there has never been a drug scandel in the NFL.  You can't tell me that those meatsticks are clean.

No, they're not clean in the NFL, but I believe if you went totally on "the percentage of participants' cheating with drugs," track and field would win.
 
The sprinters, jumpers and throwers are on 'roids.  The distance peeps are not on "juice," but have taken all kinds of crap to blood dope.
 
And this applies to both the men and women.
 
Bid, you make great points, but I would bet money that track and field is the dirtiest of all sports.  Pro wrestling would maybe beat it, but that isn't a sport.
 
Want to see someone outside of track and field on a lot of designer performance drugs tonight?  Tune in to NBC around 22:55 EDT and take a look at Dara Torres.  Yes, she is a swimming goddess, and I give her all the respect and credit I can, but I believe she is as dirty as one can get.  She's smart, and rich (Beverly Hills rich girl), so she has taken the right masking agents (with the help of personally employed chemists who can beat the system) coupled with the right drugs, and marketed herself to the media so they consider her untouchable.
 
Barry Bonds could have learned a lot from Dara Torres.

What Torres is doing is rated XXX.  Total ream job of the Olympic doping detectors.
 
Got to hand it to her, though.  She just took them for a ride.

I've never seen anything like Bolt. Yesterday in qualifying, he stopped running hard at the 40m mark and still comes in first. Now in the final he stops running hard at the 80m mark, and he smashes the world record! I think its a combination of talent, confidence, and steroids. But if he is clean, then he must be the greatest athlete EVER!?

Thats a good point. But there is just something more impressive about running fast than swimming fast.

Ya she's gotta be on the HGH. She seems like a very nice lady, but I doubt she could be clean.

If Bolt got to run the 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 200, 4x1 relay and 4x2 relay, he would be the best olympian ever.  That's essentiallyy what Phelps does and my beef with swimming.  The events are two similar.  You will never see anyone in track win four events on the track because the only two races that are remotely similar are the 100m and 200m and the 5k and 10k.  Everything else is vastly different.

bolt could have run 25 m regular, 25 backwards, 25 hopping, and 25 with his arms flailing, that could be the individual medley
