I'll stick with this thread as there is more discussion here, and simply asking others to do the same so we only have one thread to follow....but of course you guys are big boys, and thus can do what you want.
Anyway...on to my lastest thought. Bris Vs Saints. Just watched Sports Tonight and saw Ball (Saints best player last week) walking around with a 'moon' boot on his foot...one would suggest he isn't playing this week, and also the Gehrig situation where I have just read that he has been placed on the long term injury list as per AFL website. I don't think this will seriously hurt the Saints apart from a simple structure point of view...what do I mean...when the season started the Siants would have great expectations of having Gehrig, Riewoldt & Koschitzke (only will play in this game, Kosi), thus making it alot easier for Bris defenders (as they are light on in this area) to handle the reduced fire power of the Saints.
Then we look at the other end for Bris...and put simply, where the hell are the Siants 'bigger' defenders going to be able to handle Brown and Bradshaw. Also the Saints engine room lacks power (as their midfield doesn't scare anyone), there backs are only good when there is pressure from up the field and they simply have too many 'Quarterbacks' in their side such as Fisher, Goddard & Montagna who reaaly don't know how to complete in the air and then win the contested footy once it hits the ground.
Their lack of pace, and players they accquired from other sides in Gardiner, Schneider & King (even though King is the best of them all) haven't really brought much to the table, and IMO their playing list is aging to the extent that the window of opportunity to win the flag is slipping away and this will be quickly realised later in the year when they miss out on the finals, or just make up the numbers come September!
And one final thought...resigning Gram for 3 more year...WOW, what were they thinking, I mean, you watch this guy play...a very very good carrier of the footy, but the end result usually isn't good, have a look and you'll see what I mean, so IMO I really don't like the way the Siants are looking at their future as they will 'stay' competitive in the next couple of seasons...but really they are only a sub-par side heading in the same direction as Freo!
And my prediction regarding the mid-season retirement of Peter Bell I think will still happen.
After saying all that, both teams are 4-4 which has scared me off the line, and the way I am leaning with this weeks games I will more than likely play a multi with ML's Geel, Bris & Adel at the price of $2.08 as per Sportingbet currently, and also maybe one line game.
Any thoughts on the above welcome
