It seems we have used up all of our wins in the last thread, so let's try a new one. Boy did I take it on the chin last night. When that Jones shot rolled through the port, it was like a slow death happening. I don't disagree with Schopp's post game comments, that the Jones team maybe taking her lightly and don't feel they are in the same category as her. Saying this, Jones is quite the competitor and I don't know that Andrea mentioning how many shots Jones missed was the wisest thing to do.
For this afternoon, Pinny hung a 13.5, so I hit the under. I also played Scotland -1.5. I am a big fan of Eve, just not so much of her team. If she can get the lead, they love to hit, so hopefully they can come out strong.
4.6 units to win 4 on the under and 3.7 units -1.5, to win 3.5.

Just got off the phone with 365 and apparently they are going to have an in-play line, despite not posting a line before the game begins. Bizarre. I will be on something once they post it. Kudo's to Eve for kicking home both of our afternoon bets.

How disappointing that neither site offers a line on the semi-final game. As for the game itself, when I look at my last post, obviously the answer was Jones. For a girl that can usually drop a rock in the four foot no questions asked, she sure struggled with her weight last night. Even worse was the fact she was putting back her out turns and well. The announcers were trying to say it was some straight spots in the ice but I don't buy it for a second.
So this sets us up for our Bronze Medal game this morning. I have no interest in laying any money on Canada, as I know they couldn't care less about this medal. They might put a little more effort this year, than last year since it is in their home country, but not enough to lay the juice they have on her. Sweden has been up and down all week, but I am hoping they will be up for this game and hang with them to keep it close. As these games have a history of being higher scoring the over is there for me.
Over 12.5, 6.35 units to win 5. Also Sweden +1.5, 1.2 units to win 1.6 and Sweden straight up 1.5 units to win 3.8.
Leaning Scotland in the Gold Medal game at the moment, with a slight lean to the under.

I'm glad there was no line yesterday...I would have been on Canada for sure...
I remember a few years ago when there was the 3-4 game and then the semi-final right after it, Pinny would offer two lines for the semi-final game (one for each team in the 3-4 game) so that you could place your bet on the semi-final game regardless of who won the 3-4 game. Don't know why they don't do that anymore....
As for tonight, *sigh*, I guess I'll play Scotland. But Germany has beaten Canada twice and Scotland once. I'm not sure Scotland should be favoured here...

Your right Ang, I remember when they used to do that. I was the opposite, I had a large bet on Canada to win it all and was hoping to hedge a small portion of it last night, but didn't have the chance.
Did you see Schopp's comments on line today? She said she would have rather played Jen than Eve. Interesting. Muirhead, does have a good record against Germany. I think it is a 50/50 toss up, but have leaned to Scotland just cause I think Eve is a little sharper. I do like the under though.
Glad Cathy jammed that hit in 7, allowing Sweden to get a three. Needed that huge for the over.

That was an entertaning game. The in-play betting came back to bite me today, but if I had to do it again, I would play the same bet. It was either the fourth or fifth end, that Eve had a delicate tap back to lay 4 vs Germany and set up for a big end. She upped her weight and tossed it by, but boy that would have been sweet, had se made that. I would have loved to seen her guard not curl so much in 11, to make Andrea draw on her last one, but that is the way it goes. I think if I was Andreas crew, I would take the Gold medal and strangle her for the way she berated them, for lining up the guards in 10. That was completely classless.
When Eve's first one picked in 10, it goes to show you how one piece of debris can completely turn a game around and why you should never up your bet that much for a final. That shot will be engrained in my head for as long as I live, not to go stupid on a title game.
So to summarize, I had a great Olympic run, a great Brier which turned into an above average Brier after the playoffs and a very sub par Ladies Championship. We have one to go, being the Men's worlds next week. I need to get my act together to finish off the curilng year on a good note. Ang, Seymour and everyone else, let's get some dough coming our way starting next week. I know these Ladies frustrated us with their inconsistency this week, but perhaps we can make some coin off of Italy.

I will hedge these if they get to the playoff round, but to me this is one of the weaker worlds fields and I am getting good value with these teams.
Kapp is your perenial 6-5 team some years a little better some a little worse. I think he will have a decent chance to get to the playoffs.
Fenson to me has always been the best curler in the U.S. He gets to go back to a country, where he won a bronze medal in the Olympics and again based on this value is too good to pass up.
I am interested to see how good the ice is in in Italy. If it is sub-par, then this levels the playing field, making for tighter games.

Future Plays for the Worlds
Germany to win 2.5 units to win 35 units.
U.S.A. to win 2.5 units to win 50 units.

Ang, I have been doing some searching on this topic this morning, but haven't heard anything concrete How did you hear about Ulsrud leaving?
Too late to change anything now for me.
I did go back and decide to put an extra 1.5 units on the Sweden and Norway game under, to make them an even 4 units. I don't plan on betting all totals this big, I just really liked them a lot.
For Draw 2, I put 2.1 units to win 2 units on the States at +2.5 vs Canada. I also as a long shot put 1.5 units on them to win outright to win 4.8 units. I played the under 11.5 in this game, 2.1 units to win 2. I see this morning, I now could have had that game +140 on the under.
Won't be around for much of the day, actually playing in a fun curling spiel, for jugs of draft, with some buddies today which should be fun
Hope to be back later, for a post on tomorrows games. Just a couple of stats to pass along for you, that I was able to find out.
Scot 6-5 all time vs Carlesen from Sweden
Germany 7-1 all time vs France
Norway 11-2 vs France, with most of these games blow outs (of course if no Ulsrud, that greatly affects things).

21 ends played thus far this morning and there have only been two deuces scored. I am going to take a stab that the ice is running straight and will continue so for the day.
Adding another 2 units to the Can/States under 11.5, 2 to win 2.7 units, and will play 1.5 units on the Swiss under 11.5 to win 1.75 units. No nothing about this Swiss team, so will play cautiuos there.

Following draw USA to win vs Swiss 2.5 units to win 3.5 units
Yeah, couldn't believe that line. Grabbed it at +159.
Unfortunately, no spreads/totals yet. Which means my wagering is going to be severly restricted as I won't be able to wager either the morning (aside from ML) or afternoon draws...

Oops, I just mean totals/spreads for afternoon draw. This time shifting had me all messed up...I should be able to wager morning/evening draw but will miss afternoon spreads/totals. I guess I can live with that.
