The Vics will be fired up after their dismal performance in the field (particularly second half of innings) and amazing batting collapse last start. But my question is, does being fired up in a game of cricket really assist to a great degree? This isn't rugby, and imo cricket is best played when the pressure of performing is not the motive, which benefits NSW here.
The NSW team is strong. In fact, it boasts 7 players who have won national selection this summer including a batting lineup that stars Hughes, Warner, Katich and Henriques is going to earn respect even when it comes to the class act of the Victorian bowling attack. Whilst on the Victorian bowling attack actually, it is probably worth noting that their star from the last match, McKay may not play thanks to an injured shoulder. McKay had figures of 3 for 22 at 2.20 against the Bulls, taking 3 of their 4 trop batsmen and even making 20% of the Victorian total with the bat. He will be missed.
Once again batting first will be the preference for whoever wins the toss, and the Victorians do welcome back in-form Rogers to assist with their total. Hodge with a game under his belt could be dangerous as well. There should be a bit in the pitch for fast bowlers as was evidenced the other day, and the Victorians probably have the advantage in this regard.
More to come as I find time, but definitely leaning the Blues here. The Victorians have lost their momentum, are missing their stars and I like the look of a confident and relaxed Blues squad.
A lot will depend on the toss, if the Blues win it the odds should move closer to pick 'em, and I'll be all over them. If the Vics win the toss, I may have a small play on the Blues to continue the Vics woes.
