OK guys, last match of the first round of AFL. Roos currently a 5.5-point favorite. 1.50 on the ML.
Both clubs have a little different look to them this season with some new faces for the Roos and Sheedy gone for the Bombers. However, that being said, the Roos have not lost to the Bombers since 2001. Roos midfield game looks strong enough to mop up loose balls, and that will be important, since both of these sides have quality goalkicking.
Need some help from other cool heads to tell me that North at the 1.50 ML is a solid wager. After that heart-rendering debacle at the Telstra Dome tonight with the Crows/Dogs, I am seriously doubting myself.
Rod, Ecoute, and all the other regulars, please chime in, for what it's worth, with whatever you have on this match.
Thanks and let's get 'em!

One thing that has become pretty obvious especially this season's Round 1 is that preseason form means absolutely nothing!
Stack these two lists side by side and honestly the only way the linemakers have come up with such a line has to be based on the Bombers very respectable NAB Cup performances.
Shinboners for me as well HoH will gladly lay the 5.5 points in this one.

Thanks TWILL and Rod. After the Crows heartbreak last night, I am finding myself scared to pull the trigger. After all, Roos only favored by one more point than Adelaide was last night.
ARGH!
Any other insight? Any local folks with some dig?
Cheers!

Oh, another thing....if the Roos are only a 5.5-point favorite, how in the world are they at a measly 1.50?
Do the book expect a Roos win here?
Roos did well in the preseason as well, so surely that has something to do with it. Just wondering if the youth of the Bombers could overtake the midfield experience of the Roos?
I need some more prodding here!

Too many unknowns here, particularly with Essendon. With Lloyd and Lucas up and going and that potentially explosive run through the midfield Essendon could take this one. And the Kangaroos are a team that could come out and lay an egg here. Kangaroos probably deserve favouritism but there isn't a whole lot that sticks out as a reason to back either side over the other.
Also it is probably worthwhile nothing pretty much every pick I have seen on this match is for the Kangaroos, who have done nothing but firm in from what was a 1.90 pick-em early in the week. Richmond were the other heavily-backed side, starting the round with a victory for the punters. Will the round finish in the same way?

HoH not sure where you are getting only $1.50 for the SU win but you are defiitely getting ripped off. A lot of the local agencies here have it around the $1.70 mark which would be more in line with the current -5.5 spread.

Just one thing to keep in mind. I think all new coaches have been beaten so far this round. That might mean something..
Be interesting to see what the Dons spit out. Lloyd was critised last year for being to unselfish and playing up the ground. What will he do as captain ?
Total is interesting too. Got to try figure out why something with such a low spread has a 208 total especially as we know Blues D is quite good and their are lots of newbies in the Dons team.

Sorry Rod, I was somehow looking at -150 and thinking that. It is 1.67 at the local. The Crows really f'ed with my logical thinking skills last night. Hahaha...

OK, I wimped out a bit at took the Kangas on the ML at 1.67. Might not be a lot in this one so I am playing safe until we see what this new-look Bombers outfit gives us.
