As a fan of sport per se (like we all are here) I'm bloody pissed off about the decay of the national basketball league, but I don't quite know where to direct the blame.
Sure the league itself has done bugger all in terms of marketing the comp but it just seems like the whole comp is out of whack, ie clubs paying more than they can afford for their playing rosters (in an effort to be competitive) and running at massive losses financially as a result
It's hard to know what the solution is for the nbl

I think one factor that's been a bit overlooked in all this (but is a major contributing factor to the league / teams' declines) is teams and players not promoting themselvs and their product in the community.
Back in the early days of the Bullets and Kings, their players would take 200 basketballs down the mall and hand them out to kids, sign autographs, do school visits ect. Nowadays players refuse to do that sort of thing, they want to train, play and get paid, that's it.
