Cairns held Townsville to 75 and the Blaze to 72, given Ellis was playing for the Crocs I would say both have more offensive firepower than Wollongong do. Cattalini and Mee are supposed to miss (although Crawford was said to be out for Perth on Wednesday and played and Penny was reported to be out for NZ and played last night so who knows) so they are also down on fire power.
Coach Black talking up their defence:
Taipans head coach Alan Black praised his side's defensive effort, which limited the Blaze to no more than 20 points in each quarter.
"If you look at it quarter by quarter, 20 16 17 and 19 (points), it was a tremendous effort defensively. We don't usually give up easy baskets," Black said.
"I thought our big guys did a tremendous job inside, we made it a jump-shooting game, they got very little inside at all," he said.
Under looks value to me.
Brisbane v Perth under 207.5 1u
Given the way Brisbane play the score can be anything. By my numbers they averaged 216 points in their games last season and have played 201 and 220 this season. However, the games against Perth last season were 177, 199 and 191. Personnel has changed a bit but style of play looks similar to me. Think there is some value in the under.
Don't know why NZ have stuck with Lemanis, for mine he is more a full time whinger than a coach, he whines and carries on about every call which just seems to lower morale without achieving anything. his advice to the team at one time out last night was - look to run ... and proceeded to list about 10 different plays.
On the opposite side I like the way super coach Beveridge has got the razorbacks playing up tempo and with confidence. Hinson was way impressive and Liam Rush would be starting for Australia if he played for Sydney on last nights form.
