lost my writeups on the first post of the season which brought back memories of the torture that was betting on NBL last season. Still willing to try again.
Most regular season wins:
GC more Adelaide $1.90 1u
I am big on GC this season under new coach Joey Wright, Excellent additions of Vukona who looked to have improved his offensive game dramatically in the NZ v au games, plus Adam Gibson who I rate pretty highly. Imports are a somewhat unknown but resumes and performance in preseason games suggest they are decent. I think they are a decent title shot.
Adelaide recycle another has been import in Cortez Groves, who has been poor for several seasons. Jacob Holmes still seems an important part of the roster despite not doing much in recent seasons either. Ballinger counts as a local now which is a major plus, but losing Maher and Schensher is bad news for mine. My tip for the wooden spoon.
NZ more wins than Perth $1.82 1u
I agree that NZ should be title favourites. A couple of new young players should freshen things up, but the core is pretty much unchanged.
Perth have gone with familiar strategy of building a wall with Schensher, Rogers, Cattalini and Redhage. My feeling this won't work particularly well and i see it as confirmation of my belief coach doesn't know what he is doing.
NZ -9.5 $1.87 1u
NZ did well in the preseason comp playing without Bruton, who is set to play although a little under done.
NZ came out smoking last season winning 4 of 5 at home, although the loss was to Cairns
18/09/08 1 New Zealand 114 Wollongong 93
25/09/08 2 New Zealand 120 Melbourne 111
2/10/08 3 New Zealand 118 Adelaide 80
9/10/08 4 New Zealand 111 Cairns 122
16/10/08 5 New Zealand 120 Gold Coast 108
Cairns look an ok squad to me, but like quite a few teams have alot of veterans and a bit of stale feel to them. Reichart and Rampton appear on the downward slide and arguably Boodnikoff and Crosswhite are as well. Quite like the addition of Jones and he played big minutes in two of the three preseason games.
NZ v Cairns over 171.5 1u
NZ put up some points in the preseason without Bruton, with him running things they score a lot better.
I think NZ will come out running and put up a score.
