Dragons have been talking about the D for sometime now but the fact is this team just deosn't have the mindset or toughness to do just that.
Back in round 12 dragons were at home against the Blaze and had to win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Dragons talked up the D in the press and they went out & lost that game by 116-127 to the Blaze. Total for that game was 201.5 and a lot of us guys here on covers took the under and got done.
Here's the article that i was referring to:
We've been breaking down a lot. I think we wanted to be a great defensive team and we knew we could score and put points on the board, and defence would be the thing that won or lost games for us," Ingles explained.
"So far it has definitely lost us games."
"We've had some pretty bad breakdowns in some games and it showed losing by 30 to Cairns and 20 to Gold Coast last time."
"If we start playing 'D' as a team and getting some stops we can string some games together."
Ingles said the feeling within the camp as it prepares to round out a nine-day, four-match road-trip on Wednesday was still upbeat.
"It's a tough situation. We are 4-11 and I think most of the guys here are used to being on winning teams."
"The guys have been good, trying to stay positive, and with the personnel we have got we know we should be a better team and can turn it around if we knuckle down and play some tough basketball."
If anything, I would be more concerned about the lack of effort and intensity from the dragons since it is the festive season but then I told myself that the suxers D is nothing to rave about either. IMO the 2 teams will more than likely settle for a fast tempo game since it is what they are good at.
