The Tall Blacks and Boomers have not met in Wellington since game one of the FIBA Oceania series in 2001, the Tall Blacks first victory over Australia since 1978 on their way to a historic 2-1 series win.
“It’s huge playing at home, let along doing it for your country. That just takes it to another level. And then playing Australia, for us it doesn’t get any bigger.
“Wellington is a great place to play. The fans generally come out and they’re loud. It’s going to be a big boost. I’m sure we’re not going to be lacking any energy and effort tonight.”
Debutant forward BJ Anthony was sidelined for part of Sunday’s game one with an ankle injury but returned to the court in the fourth quarter. He is ready to go, with the Tall Blacks unaffected by injury.
Boomers forward Mark Worthington, who sat out game one, is expected to suit up for the green and golds, while Dallas Mavericks centre Nathan Jawai did not take the court during Australia’s shootaround this morning.
