what an earth to do with this country and its shambolic cricket setup ?

They won the last test and had England 7 for 100 on the first day of this one. Then they let the tail put on 345 and get rolled for less than half the Poms' first innings total.

Pakistan would be unbeatable if they tried there best,they always have teams in trouble and then they either give up,get bored or there starting to lose on purpose due to fixing.

Spot fixing and fixing is also rampant in India, Bangladesh and to a lessor extent Sri Lanka.

Its easier to list the sports not involved in betting coruption. Golf and most motor sport is all I got.

I would love to see it eradicated from all sport sadly is is only getting worse.

Surely something has to be done about the number of 'micro-markets' that are available in cricket especially. That's where the problem lies imo and as long as there are ridiculous options like the one at the centre of this scandal, fixing will be rife.

tbh, I don't think I've heard of anything more outrageous than this "no-ball" market we're hearing about in this one. It's akin to a tennis player serving a fault or a baseball pitcher throwning a foul ball - nobody is going to bat an eyelid if and when it happens therefore its ten thousand times easier for these creeps to arrange a "fix".

Don't the sports themselves have some sort of say / sign-off on the betting types that books are allowed to make available ?

Thats the problem, they aren't regulated books. The betting on cricket in the sub continent is all illegal and through people acting as bookies.


Its hard for us downunder to imagine, but lives are made and ruined on every delivery. Millions are pending on most delveries. Its largely the rich people that bet.

In a perfect world obviously if it was regulated it would be much easier to stamp out the markets you speak of. But highly unlikely that will happen in the near future.

The problem is the anti corruption unit in the ICC...It has taken for a newspaper to uncover this?

Now, either the ICC are completely incompetent or they are also in on it (getting paid on the side) or are to scared to completely uncover it as it will write cricket off completely.

Geoff Lawson pretty much giving excuses as to why they match fix , ie, to pay for electricity for there families......

As ridiculous as that sounds to us, we really do have no clue what it means to be Pakistani or a Pakistani cricketer.

The values they have and the world / culture they live in is vastly different to the one we're lucky enough to have.

Australia needed 46 to win in the last over  (8 ball overs) of the Hong Kong Super Sixes tournament final against Pakistan and they won with a ball to spare.

Imran Nazir conceded 48 runs off 7 balls including 18 extras

It's true. You dont' flee a successful cricket career where you could get lots of money in the IPL etc if you want a visa in a better country than Pakistan.
