The NBL is really putting up some great games. Already 2 OT games within the first 2 weeks. Teams are bouncing back quickly from losses and its looking really competitive this season. Taipans sucking on the road as usual, Hawks struggling big time and Beveridge's beliefs in 80 shots per game is wearing thin as his team is giving up plenty of points as they don't defend and once they miss a shot, they aren't grabbing offensive boards and their oppositions are just scoring easily on them. AJ Ogilvy looks out of position. He is taking 3 point shots at 7'1. Why? He is leaving the paint so open for the other guys. Very strange.
Moving on to Week #3. Big week, I think 7 games in total this time around with a game on Monday night.
NBL Week #3 has
Kings @ Breakers
Bullets @ United
Taipans @ 36ers
Hawks @ Wildcats
Breakers @ Bullets
Wildcats @ United
Hawks @ Kings.
WNBL Week #3 has
Boomers @ Lightning
Flames @ Spirit
Fire @ Rangers
Capitals @ Lynx
Fire @ Flames
Spirit @ Boomers
Some very interesting match-ups all around both leagues this weekend. Leaning the Breakers on Thursday night, laying just -3.5 to the Kings who have won just 2 out of their last 17 on the road and they just got a big win on the road vs the Hawks. I think NZ can bounce back in a big way after their hard fought loss the other day vs Perth.
BOL this week everyone

Not going to touch the first game, the line doesn't seem right IMHO and the Breakers always have a hard time dealing with Kevin Lisch. I expect him to be a pain once again for them just wearing a Kings jersey instead of a Hawks jersey.
Looking into the 2nd game though, personal opinion is that United shouldn't be laying -6.5 right now to anyone especially not the Bullets who have a decent roster and great coach.

Okey dokey!!!! So last night was typical NBL.. Kings go across the Tasman and win S/U vs the NZ. One thing I completely forgot and saw during the match was that Vickerman is now on the coaching staff of Kings and he coached the Breakers for several seasons and knows that team very well hence why the win for the Kings wasn't so surprising but glad I stayed away last night. The other game was a roller coaster with Melbourne getting up early, blowing a very big lead and then covering at the end. So now we move onto Friday's game.. Not touching the 36er's/Taipans game as the 36ers are missing Creek and very young and I cant trust them as favs but then I cant trust Cairns playing their 3rd straight road game and just looking bad all over the court. But I will play the later game.
Illawarra Hawks @ Perth Wildcats: Over 166.5
I will stand by the fact that Beveridge as per usual, wants his team to jack up 80 shots and try to hit 100 points each game. Thats his game plan every game. Now, Perth on the other side have not hit 80+ in reg time yet in their first 3 games and they are coming off 3 straight games against teams that play slow ball such as Bullets, NZ and Taipans. When you check out those teams stats, all three of these teams sit in the bottom 3 for possessions per game, Bullets averaging just 71, Taipans just 72 and then NZ 74.5 per game. Now they get the Hawks who average a massive 84 possessions per game. 12 more than any team the Wildcats have played so far this season. Perth only averaging just 69 possessions per game but coming off 3 games vs slower teams, i think they can work on their offense tonight and put their defensive game in the back seat just for at least tonight..

Sydney sitting at 0-2, Spirit 2-0 but the Spirit have played Lightning who are now 0-5 and the Rangers last week who at the time were 0-1. Now the Flames lead the league in 3 point shooting, the Spirit's other opposition did not shoot the 3 ball well. I think the Flames can bounce back from last week's defeat and keep this very close. Also, is there really a 15 point swing between the Flames, Capitals and Spirit seeing that the books gave the Flames -7.5 last week vs the Capitals.

Sydney Uni Flames @ Bendigo Spirit: Flames +7.5

Man, the Hawks offense stunk last night big time. They are really missing both Penney and Lisch. Definitely not the same offensive team as last season and they got nowhere near their usual 80 shots per game. 1-1 last night.
Now tonight's game is interesting, Lumanis (Bullets) coach now coached the Breakers for years from 2005-2013 and during that time, he coached most of these NZ players. He even coach Penney as well during his first stint in NZ and the Breakers current coach as well so Lumanis knows the players and coach very well. Lean the Bullets in this game as I think the travel for NZ may catch up with them.

Just on the sheer low total in this game. Garrick's 150th game for the Boomers. Both are coming off some low games this weekend with the Boomers bearing the Lightning 66-61 and then Spirit losing to Sydney 74-69. Expect both teams to hit 70+ in this game.

What a moose... Game lands on 138 so lost by the hook. Moving on anyways..
Monday Night NBL action, Hawks @ Kings. These 2 teams play at a very fast pace (1st and 2nd) in the league. Kings are shooting lights out, best in the league for efficiency and thats expected when you have Lisch playing guard and Cadee is playing well above his norm. Hawks ranked 2nd in the league as well for offense efficiency but thats only a small sample size and considering the Hawks hit 122 in their first game, they have struggled offensively after that hitting just 73, 83 and 84. They are allowing a lot of points. All teams have hit 80 or higher against them so far. Kings coming off a road trip to NZ and the Hawks coming off a flight from Perth. The total hit 172 last game and the pre game total was around 183.5. So now we get a total of 178.5 points which is pretty much in between the final game score and the total set in the first match. This game is a hard one to cap..
