NBL & WNBL Week #1

Hey guys,Back for another season. The NBL teams didn&#x27;t do too well in the States this week, all teams got a hammering pretty much. Expected I guess but still, some teams look atrocious on offense compared to others. Week #1 in the NBL starts off with;Bullets @ Breakers on ThursdayWildcats @ 36ersMelbourne @ Hawks36ers @ KingsTaipans @ BulletsBreakers @ MelbourneHawks @ WildcatsMassive weekend to get the season under way. Big news is that Bogut is playing for the Kings and Randle and Lisch are both the healthy now so the Kings are small favs to win it all this year but we all know how injury prone Bogut can be. For the ladies, they don&#x27;t start until Friday with;Canberra @ Sydney (have a lean already on this game)Adelaide @ PerthBendigo @ MelbourneDandenong @ TownsvilleSo the most successful player in WNBL has decided to retire after this season and I think her team can go and win another title. Thats Suzy Batkovic and the Townsville Fire. Just too strong and such a good team with a good coach. Waiting on their futures to come out and if the price is right, will be jumping on them.GL this season everyone...

Thanks Brew. Its always an interesting season in the NBL with so many imports and new players, can take a few weeks to get a handle on the league. I always take it slowly to begin with to see how teams gel but one thing is for sure, home court is massive in this league.

Tip-off tonight, good games with some teams just coming back from the States after the NBL vs NBA series which was a bit of a disaster with the NBA teams playing their scrubs and blowing the NBL teams most games.

BigD, great to see you in this forum as well mate.The NBL is getting better coverage this season on TV which it deserves and with the signing of Bogut to the Kings, he will bring even more fans and coverage which the league needs. Also plenty of young American college kids in the league as well.

Let&#x2019;s get this season started.. Perth Wildcats @ Adelaide 36ers: 36ers -3.5Any team with Sobey in it is going to be competitive. I was not impressed at all by the Wildcats in their USA games. I think they are missing something this season. Adelaide took care of Perth last season and I think they have a very good strong team and playing at home, massive advantage.

Hey Nysster, nice of you to comment mate. Don&#x2019;t be shy buddy. So am I mate, really looking forward to this season as well. Kings are the favs to win it because of their guard combo along with Bogut and other players but I don&#x2019;t believe they have the coaching staff to win it. Will look deeper into the odds and schedule to see who I think will win it and if there is any value on taking a future bet..

If they can improve their road form which is so important in this league then I think they can be really impressive.

Nysster, I have to see the Hawks play first. I wouldn&#x2019;t rely too much on their coach saying they want to defend better this season because they just don&#x2019;t do it well. He has said that several times before and I fell for it last time. They play an up tempo game and if they do, Melbourne will follow

Now that game last night is contender for game of the year already. Quadruple OT and teams were just hitting their shots when needed. Amazing effort, both teams play tomorrow so will be buggered I believe.

Moving on to today.

Adelaide Lightning @ Perth Lynx (WNBL): Over 155.5

Both teams have gone through some big line-up changes. Perth have lost their 2 guards from last season, Whitcomb and Williams as they now are both in Europe. Perth have added some great US talent with Asia Taylor and McPhee. They have finally given Schwagmeyer a full term contract which is definitely a good thing. Perth are very small in height, so I expect Andy Stewart to tell his girls to play quick tempo basketball which I also think Chris Lucas and the Lightning will gladly follow with Seekamp, Nicholson and Clydesdale.

I am going to sit back and watch the Kings vs 36ers game so no play for me. On paper, the Kings should win comfortably with Randle dishing it to Bogut and Lisch running the show as well. But, I can&#x27;t stand Andrew Gaze as a coach. Great player, no idea as a coach. Will focus on the later game tonight between Bullets and Taipans.

Bendigo Spirit @ Melbourne Boomers: Over 149.5

Melbourne completely stacked with talent. Bendigo not so much. After seeing what Canberra did last night on offense, I think Melbourne might want to do the same. Melbourne will score and I think they will score the majority of points, the spread is too large to take but this game should go over as I don’t see Bendigo being able to stop Melbourne offensively.
