The far left just pushes and pushes until they have nobody on their side anymore.
First it started with the cop should be charged with murder. 99% of the country supported this.
Then it went to cops are racist. 65% of the country supported this.
Then it went to America is racist. 50% of the country supported this.
Then it went to rioting and looting is necessary. 25% of the country supported this.
Then it went to defund the police. 10% of the country supported this.
And now we’re back to Trump is the best option because Joe Biden will be controlled by the far left crazies. Because if you don’t let the crazies control you, you’ll be labeled as a racist. And being labeled a racist is the death penalty for the virtue signaling Democrat.

“People sometimes ask if I have tried to convince black “leaders” to take a different view on racial issues. Of course not. I wouldn't spend my time trying to persuade the mafia to give up crime. Why should I spend time trying to convince race hustlers to give up victimhood?” — Thomas Sowell

Tox, i'd be curious to see how you compare and contrast the exploitation of the black community by the democratic party with that of the exploitation of poor white, specifically in the American south and the rust belt, by the republican party. These voting blocks are almost always fiercely and loyally republican. How has that helped them? I mean, the gang violence isn't as high but the systematic poverty, rampant drug use, lack of access to healthcare... education... ect, is as bas if not worse than anything you see in the black community. There republican representatives have allowed jobs to be shipped overseas, factories to close, pill mills to pump opioids into the community, yet they still continue to vote republican. As a matter of fact, in many parts of the deep south, thet have never rebounded from the civil war and reconstruction. These communities perpetually have some of the highest unemployment rates, highest illiteracy rates, highest drug-dependency rates, highest teen pregnancy rates.... who is advocating for them? The republican party? How has that worked out?

Yes we studied this some time ago. Not sure why that myth still persists. But it is obviously media-driven. But not sure the actual reason for it. Some of it obviously stems from Frank’s works. Maybe some agenda to try to counter the Right vs Left on the black community. But the evidence is countered in a lot of studies.
One excerpt that is in the paper:
Why does the myth that poor whites vote against their interest for Republicans persist? It is hard to say, but for many years poor whites have been discussed as a source of political problems. Yet, these problems are often exaggerated or nonexistent, just as we found with our study of poor white voting behavior. For example, much recent conversation focuses on the moral failings of poor whites, such as recent entries by the National Review and Paul Krugman. By nearly every available measure, however, poor white Americans are doing better on traditional measures of social problems. The two issues often identified by critics of poor whites as evidence are unemployment rates (now 6.8 percent) and teenage birthrates. But, both of these are actually relatively low and on the decline. So, why are some in the media determined to say negative things about this group? We have a possible hypothesis for why poor whites take a disproportionate amount of blame: These elite pundits are not poor whites, and so they do not know from personal experience and do not care enough about this group to actually research them. We cannot test any of that here, but we are glad to add empirical evidence on the rationality 3/4 of voting behavior by poor whites in the United States.

Have you spent any time in the south? In the rust belt? These people are not doing fine. Many people in the south have not rebounded from reconsttuction. We're rapidly approaching 200 years. If you, or whomever you cite, are willing to simply say, "It's not that bad....." then your head is in the sand. If it wasn't that bad then they wouldn't be classified as "poor".
Make no mistake, i'm not attempting to make equivalencies. I content that all politicians are corrupt and the system is set up to exploit the poor, regardless of race. They brainwash us into fighting over which side is right and while we bicker, nobody is minding the till. The republican party doesn't care or do for poor whites any more than the democratic does for poor minorities. The point of my thread is we need to hold all politicians accountable. We haven't been. And people need to vote with their own hearts, their own minds, and not in the way they have been programmed to.

I am starting to like you more and more. Holding the Politicians or Lawmakers accountable Right along with anyone else in a position of authority, Police, Judges, DA's and so on. Politicians like Lawyers are trained Liars and will tell the people what they want to hear. The Buffoon came onto the World Stage and shook some things up for The Deep State and actually delivered on a lot of his Promises. The Zionist controlled Left is to Blame for the Deterioration of Morals, Values and what Freedom's we have left................................They should be labeled Enemies Of The State and dealt with accordingly Like Mark Twain said " Politicians are like Diapers and need to be changed often and for the same reason"

Fine or not was not my point. My point was about the myth about the accuracy of their voting in their best interests or not. We suspect this is propagate by the media/left. But the reasons are not clear why. But is easily disputed in several studies. For example:

There are others. But this is concise enough to make the point. People hear things so much that it tweaks their perception. People almost inherently vote in their best interests and that applies almost across the board.
Sure we should hold politicians accountable. But to say ALL are... That makes me leery. It may a large number. But for sure is not all.
The accountability option we have is the ballot box and running better candidates. I will agree that we do a poor job of using those.
Yes. I am fortunate enough (or maybe not so fortunate — depending on how you look at it) to have been all over the world and most of the states. This includes Appalachia and other like areas. It is puzzling. But look at the study I linked. Very short and not too in-depth. Decent graphs to show the study.
There are also cool studies on contentment, etc. that dispute some of the supposed issues.

Any study on something like this is purely subjective because, and this is using your wording, who really can say what "voting in one's best interest" is? Even to use the term "poor whites" can lead to very blurry lines. This is why I spoke to white people in two very specific regions of the country whose struggles are both comparable to that of African Americans, and is well documented. And whites in the American south, specifically, have struggles that trace back all the way to the civil war and reconstruction. There are many forgotten whites in this country. And they have been conned into believing the republican party cares about them in much the same was african americans have been conned by the democratic party. Neither party cares about each respective group and the more energy we waste on arguing which party is better is the less energy spent on holding our politicians accountable.

It is puzzling. But look at the study I linked. Very short and not too in-depth. Decent graphs to show the study. There are also cool studies on contentment, etc. that dispute some of the supposed issues.
as we discuss this dynamic of those vote for their interest. And giving a huge amount of tolerance to intolerant view points. You have always showed a significant opinion of the culture leading to descision.
Is it possible that both parties are on the same team and what we are given by the media is a show not unlike wwe were they pretend to dispose one another but it's more a play fight mock script for viewers and really like Nancy Pelosi George Bush and Rockefellers barbeque that the majority in their private time are indeed good friends. Such as a defending attorney and a district attorney mock battle in court room to return to thw country club and have dinner over drinks...

No. it isn’t not subjective. That is the point. What ‘we’ generally think about their voting is wrong. They point out that the evidence is fairly empirical:
Our research adds to scholars such as Bartels and Gelman, who showed that poor whites actually more often vote for Democratic candidates and prefer the Democratic Party on most social issues.
Focusing on the small remaining group of poor whites who vote Republican we find that they do not vote against their beliefs more often than other groups in American politics.
Our research empirically validates that poor white voters’ choices typically match their true preferences.

One excerpt that is in the paper: Why does the myth that poor whites vote against their interest for Republicans persist? We cannot test any of that here, but we are glad to add empirical evidence on the rationality3/4of voting behavior by poor whites in the United States.
That might be a bit of a stretch. The biggest plight of poor white communities has been opioid use and a significant number of deaths. How much has this dropped under Trump's presidency ? It's pretty significant. Anyone can Google the numbers..
Also, what else is the Republican Party "supposed to do " ? Are they "suppressing " poor white folks in some way ? Republicans believe in a freer form of government , lower taxes. and by and large believe people should be left to their own devices to reach their own potential. All points that DEMS ultimately despise !!
