Trump will forever bear the scarlet letter "R" because a certain segment of white america, white nationalist and supremacist, endorsed him. And he didn't say no. Doesn't mean he's racist, it means he wanted to win by any means neccesary. Plus if you know anything about Trump, he likes to be liked. To a fault. Just my observation.

I have a vague recollection of Trump denouncing support from white supremacists. But when i google it nothing but anti trump rhetoric appears. Strange...

Under Donald Trump, stock market is up 40% since the election, illegal immigration is down, unemployment is at a 40+ year low, the largest tax reform in decades has been passed, ISIS has been all but wiped out, North Korea is coming to the table. Most Americans support him.

Never understood why a candidate would even feel obligated to denounce it.  It should simply be understood that you don't have those views.  Like every time a terrorist attack happens all the world leaders clamor to 'strongly denounce' the act.  Why?  As if silence means you automatically support it?  Then if you don't denounce strongly enough, folks try to make it seem as if you really aren't sincere enough.  Crazy --- some things should just be automatically understood.

Yeah....crazy. What cracks me up is how people perform this whole, "Well there's no racism anymore. It's all in people's heads." song and dance, here on Covers.com of all places. The amount of sheer filth, the level of hate that used to be spewed on this site, and sometimes still is, is a snapshot of the way many Americans think. So yes, if you're receiving support from hate groups and white supremacist like no other candidate before you, maybe it doesn't hurt to simply say, "Yo, that's not me. I don't condone these groups and I denounce their support." And to not drag your feet about it. I personally don't feel he was/is racist per sé but I do believe he coveted the support of these groups.

Speaking of denouncing hate groups, there are some democrats that have refused to denounce Farrakhan. 

Do you think they should have to? Is it ok for an American politician to be friendly with Farrakhan?

Exactly. And it's disgusting no matter what race the perpetrators are. As a black man, i'm even more disgusted when I hear stories of racist acts carried out by other black people than I am when I hear of racist acts being done to other black people. So to you other races, and white people specifically, when you hear of racist acts carried out by your own race, and your reaction is to say, "...but other races...", you are not helping  You are deflecting, you are making excuses, you are incensing the masses. I am aware that white people, maybe unfairly, shoulders the "racism" load but that's because if history. It is a heavy cross to bear but own it and use it to strive to be the best person you can be. Realize that there are powers that be, in the media, in politics, that will paint you in a certain light. They are purposely sowing seeds of dissension and divisiveness. You must remain disaffected and vigilant. And to my own race, those same politicians and media outlets are playing you/us. CNN is not your friend. The democratic party is not your friend. We all, every race, need to wake up and wise up.

I think if Farrakhan, and the nation, specifically endorsed a politician then yes, said politician should denounce said support.

I’m not going to own something people did just because they have the same skin color as me. I think that’s absurd. Every place in the world had slaves. Africa had slaves. The Middle East had slaves. Mexico had slaves. The US had slaves. South America had slaves. Asia had slaves. White people didn’t create slavery. White people weren’t the worst offenders. White people did do a pretty good job trying to get rid of slavery.

Thank you for proving my point, Tox. Deflect. Make excuses. Since we're on the subject, I dare you to find any historical data to support there ever being a form of slavery as bad as it was here in America. I'm a history buff and i'll tell you, it's just not there. It'll become even more impossible if I said find an instance in the last 1000 years. Don't try to give me Aztecs sacrificing slaves to the gods because that's a joke. Even if you want to go all the way back in history to, say, the person in Egypt, if you did any real research you would find out that the image we have is a Hollywood dramatization. What else you got? The mongols? Ghengis Khan making bridges out of slaves? Try again. I'm guessing you'll go to the classic, "but Africans were involved in the slave trade too." This is true but grossly exaggerated. And even some of those who participated ended up as slaves themselves. Go ahead, Tox. Since your so steadfast. Find me some historical reference for a worse instance of slavery. We're not talking about warring tribes taking enemies in battle as slaves 2000 years ago. We're talking relatively modern, and "civilized" human beings going to a continent and plucking humans and one plucks fruit. I double f#cking dog dare you to find a comparison.

And, Tox, by own it, I just mean acknowledge it and try to move on from it a better person. For example, the media tries to put forth this notion that whites are the only people that can be racist. I own it. I say no, all races can be racist. All races carry out hate crimes. I say that i'm more disgusted by hate crimes carried out by my own race than by hate crimes inflicted on my own race. What does Tox do? He takes a whole post about owning your own sh#t and moving forward from it, about how the media and politicians play us against each other, and about not losing the unity we've worked so hard for, he takes all of that and his only response is, "...but...but...everyone had slaves." For the record, I never even mentioned slavery. And i've never been one to play that card in any debate in these forums.

Something like 5% of the slaves leaving Africa landed in the United States. I’m sure the were treated like royalty in Brazil.

It's dumb because you can't. As always, you make statements and then back them up with pure conjecture. For historical perspective, most slave ships stopped in South America and the carribean first as a staging center of sorts. Then yes, some Africans remained in South America and the Caribbean as slaves while others continued to the United States. If you think only 5 percent of Africans brought to America in captivity, not counting those who died in passage, if you think only 5 percent came to the United States, you are the dumb one. Show me how dumb my post was. Back up your claims with facts. And your argument that, "It was just as bad in Brazil" is quite weak. And for the record, those were whites doing the tradibg as well. So give me another bullshite excuse. Remember, you're the one that brought up slavery. I've probably never been the one to bring up slavery in these threads.

Come on, Tox. What ya got, bro? I know how you operate. Someone calls you on one of your statements and you google search feverishly to back it up. In this instance you came up empty so you instead called my post dumb and made some ridiculous statement about Brazil. No shite they were treated equally as bad in places like Brazil. That was all part of the same slave trade. If you would've rather I said "the Americas" as opposed to "the United States" then you're just splitting hairs. So what else you got? Remember, my statements are dumb. And being that you're the one who randomly, out of no where, brought up slavery then this should be a slam dunk for you.

Maybe we could all raced to his first post... an ongoing thread as politics within this world continue to change.... outside of googles info slurp spider maybe yahoo or sucks super computer that even this thread read in its I entirety would not understand the personas their worlds as they contributed at the time.... a saying is sometimes an owl who hoots as wise he might be can not listen to those around him. For a ones voice will silence those voices around him as he screams for help in understanding... hence detox the owl with a thorn in its side

None of it will speak to my original statement that hiatorically, you can't find an instance of slavery worse than that of the Atlantic slave trade, either in heinousness or just pure scope. I said United States, I meant the Americas, that's a matter of semantics but whatever. You, as you always do when faced with something, changed the subject. Even bringing up the issue of slavery was you changing the subject. So when I then say, "Ok, point to an instance of Slavery that was worse " you again change the subject to how many slaves actually came to the U.S. as opposed to those who went to South America yet you've said nothing that speaks to my actual original question.
