First off - let me state the importance of understanding how to be soccer. There are many different ways to bet a game that can include win, lose, draw, handicap, or even whether overtime counts or not. So it is very important to understand the differences and bet accordingly.
When you bet soccer - you try to predict possession and chances. Goals are hard to predict but usually come from possession and chances - but not always.
For futures - I do believe that Germany has earned its spot as the favorite - but 4-1 is way too short. I would suggest a shot on one of the following:
The dutch at 14-1 is a great bet. This is who I will be on.
Croatia 15-1
France 8-1
For the first game, the Czechs play the home side Switzerland. The Swiss play a very defensive style - they are actually the only team in the history of the world cup to not allow a goal and get knocked out. In their 4 games 2 years ago, they did not allow a single goal but got knocked out in a penalty shootout to the Ukraine. They dont score many goals.
The czechs historically play the opposite - scoring a lot and giving up a lot. There has been a lot made of their midfield woes - with some injuries (Rosicky) and some retirements. They have Jan Koller upfront who looks more like a basketball player than a soccer player, but can score and be physical when necessary.
Im going to bet on the Czechs at a PK em at about +100. This means if it is a draw I dont lose.
I expect a very low scoring game. Barnetta for the Swiss is questionable, and they will sit back and defend like they always do. I think if anyone will score it will be the Czechs. I look for a 1-0 or 2-0 type of game, with the Swiss not scoring. The czechs should have the majority of the chances in this one.
In the second game, I wanted a reason to bet against Portugal, but really couldnt find one. Portugal is better in almost every respect, and the only way I dont see them winning is if they cant score.
Therefore, I will be on Portugal to win at -140.

Cannavaro's injury is a blow to Italy (captain, worlds best defender and best defender in the last world Cup), but I think they'll have enough to top the group.
I think spain will go through in D and not Greece
Other then that all cool

I think Portugal might be overyhyped because of Ronaldo. I say this with a bit of ignorance but I feel like he usually doesnt play well in the bigger games. Yeah he scored the goal in UEFA championships, but thats the first time from what I rememeber. I think Italy will also be down this year. My pick to win, not a shocker at all, they are the favorites, is Germany. I think Russia can be a suprising run. And then also I remember Switzerland in the World Cup had some really good young talent coming up on the team and on the junior team. Im taking a stab with the Turkey/Portugal draw tommorow.
