Gain of function research is banned in this country for a good reason! So they just funnel it overseas. That's what killed millions and it needs to STOP!
This is the messed up thing about such gain of function research. One will ask themselves, "Well, why are they even researching such things. Advanced vaccine research? We know this isn't the case because it took third party drug companies to rally and come up with vaccines. So why? The only reason you see this kind of gain of function research is for weaponization. Government officials will act like this isn't the case. They'll say, "No, of course we aren't experimenting with the viability of a bat coronavirus as biological weapon," but if you look at the things they were researching in Wuhan it was stuff like, "How do we make these viruses more transmissible? How do we make these viruses more likely to cause symptomatic sickness?" Why test such things? Why was the Chinese military involved. Why when shit hit the fan didn't they allow any official or member of the CDC to tour/inspect the Wuhan lab? This shit wasn't on the up and up and anyone who believes a pangolin ate a bat then that pangolin ended up in a wet market is a gawd damn fool.

Lab leak theory should be scientifically dead. No real evidence supports lab leak theory which is fueled by uncertainty, distrust and conspiracy theories. Scie ntific consensus has always believed natural origin is far more plausible. In 2022, new studies provide even stronger evidences that support origin of SARS-COV2 from Wuhan market. Lab leak theory cannot explain the data. Ultimately, science is determined by the strongest evidences.

The second was that EcoHealth Alliance violated the terms of its grant conditions stipulating that it had to report if its research increased the viral growth of a pathogen by tenfold.
I doubt there are many who say "Fauci engineered the pandemic". Rather the NIH had its hands in the "cookie jar" so to speak and it was in their best interest to LIE about the incident even though Fauci had received correspondence from credible scientists who stated early on, "this potentially looks human engineered". As stated earlier, 26 of 27 scientists in the Lancet paper that said no way it came from lab were associated with Wuhan. Sorta like those 31 former high security officials who said Hunter's laptop was Russian, same MO.
They knew admitting it was a lab leak would dry up funding and result in more regulations piled on top of them. So they all lied and our newly christened "State Media" went right along.

Flint, MI; water and wastewater treatment was my career. Flint was a robust General Motors town in the 1930's to 1970's. Then GM for the most part moved out. Flint, like so many cities across our nation looks like a third world bombed out disaster. They have little tax base and badly aging infrastructure. They cannot attract good employees, not competitive with wages. They were buying water from City of Detroit but couldn't afford the increases in costs. Detroit was upping their costs because they too have a declining tax base. So Flint had this old water treatment plant that they would fire up for a week once a year just to make sure bearings were not seizing up. It treated Flint River water. When it rains the river turns Muddy brown making treating the water that much harder . So facing bankruptcy again they decided to fire up that old water plant to save money. BAD IDEA. The employees made it work but they had to be aggressive to get the water clean. And clean it was, so clean it lacked minerals like calcium to buffer the water. The water was aggressive, craving minerals. They knew and said we need lime to stabilize the water. Flint higher ups said we don't have the money for lime, make it work with what you got. All those old homes in the city have copper pipe with lead solder joints. Fine when the water is stable, but a source of minerals when the water craves them. All that nasty water came from iron pipes and the lead came from the homes. What left the treatment plant was too pure, it wanted minerals and it took iron and lead from the pipes.
