'Michelin Lip's was a joke ten years ago, and it 's a joke today that no one, I repeat, no one gave a rats azz about it 10 years ago...
have fun with this bullshitt. Gruden should have never resigned, neeever...unfortunately he did, even after DAVIS virtually begged him not to, in accordance with the 'entire' Raiders team...nobody wanted to accept his resignation...sad that we live in such a candid social network, that jokes are now monitored, and totally unqulified african-american women (generational tokens) are line judges in real life NFL Games, without ever reffereeing a football game in their entire lifetime; when you figure that one out, let me know!

is it just me or is there no middle ground in an argument anymore??? everyone is right and anyone who doesnt agree is wrong........which is so far from the truth its not even funny..... this seems to be the way society it moving....and it is very divisive
It isn't an argument. It is a business decision. The Raiders and the NFL had a business decision. Are they better off with Gruden or without him? NFL doesn't need racial problems now or ever. Gruden has a large value, but he isn't worth the billions he would possibly have cost the NFL.

From what I can tell, getting rid of him costs more $ than keeping him. I imagine a lot of fans are more turned off by him leaving than by him staying.
It's the powers that be that forced this decision, and we all know it. It is NOT a business decision!!

And how exactly would he cost billions?

Sterling lost the clippers because of comments with didn't break any laws.
Kraft gets caught literally with his pants down at a massage parlor during an FBI sting in the middle of an illegal sexual act, and only gets more power and popular.
We are going through a transitional era in society where the goalposts get moved on a daily basis.

These were personal emails sent ten years ago to a person that Gruden evidently trusted and who betrayed him. Or these emails were stolen from the receiver by a third party whose identity is yet to be determined.
Legally an email is co owned by both the sender and receiver and they weren't meant for public consumption. That was the intent and the reality. Gruden was NOT working for the NFL or any of its teams at the time.
If these emails were released by anyone other than the sender or receiver I would imagine that there would be a real case for litigation and damages.
To the holier than thou types on here who pretend they are morally superior to Gruden or the rest of us, the truth is that they themselves form their own set of opinions and biases in life and if theirs were made public, they would be more nervous than a hoochie mama in church.
Do we really want to punish people for what they think? Do we really want to go down that road?

Dan Snider who has paid millions in hush money to allow him to come out of this WTF investigation squeaky clean, is also a dead man walking...one day, when it suits the purposes of the current person blackmailing Snider to make all his comments and emails public to cancel him when the blackmailing ends, he too will be the next elite to fall from grace...
This type of blackmail will trickle down into everyone's life, regardless of social circles, tax brackets, rich poor black white whatever...the world is entering a true blackmail type era where absolutely no one is ever safe from being deleted.
Internet Law simply doesn't exist for the real world...and it's very unlikely there will ever be a fair way to implement law online...buckle up and get used to the bumpy life if you choose to live it online for whatever reason.

NFL owners are untouchable. Jones, Kraft, Davis; legacy names that are as powerful as world leaders are today (comparing them within the contexts of business circles).
You know what matters to them? Only one thing... Money. The question will always be asked by NFL owners 'how does this situation affect our ability to profit'?
Gruden, right or wrong would cost owners money; that's all this is about. Money.
Look at who the half time entertainment is for the 2021 SB; racists, bigots, homophobs, convicted criminals. All swept aside because the money they will bring in for the owners from the ratings. Players who are convicted child beaters, women beaters, murderers, etc. All allowed to play in the NFL because they make the owners money.
Jon Gruden would jeopardize the money making machine. Sponsors, ad money would be threatened if Gruden was allowed to continue.
So how best to "fix" this? Offer Jon a reasonable sum of money to go away and keep his mouth closed forever. Jon may be upset and he would have had some leverage to blow things up even worse if he was going down empty handed. Davis either on his own (or a call or two from a couple of other owners) told him to make it go away nice and clean. No doubt Jon will miss the game but for the amount of money he would have received as severance from this, it's not the end of his world.
Look no further than the NFL owners' thirst for money when you have a 'why' question regarding ethics in this league.
