It was a Republican law slipped in at the last minute by Republican Bill Frist and signed into law by GWB.

President Bush signed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act into law today. The measure, which was attached to a ports security bill, bans American banks and credit card companies from completing transactions with Internet gambling companies.

The Associated Press reports Bush focused on security issues at today's signing ceremony and did not mention Internet gambling.


The GOP are against personal liberty and freedom.  Don't ever kid yourself on that fact, even if they do have Corporate Sponsored Tea Parties.

GWB was the president who signed this bill into law.

It wasn't Obama. 

Dems like Barney Frank have been trying to get this bill overturned.  It's the GOP with their lock-step discipline that has been torpedoeing these efforts.

Keep wearing your "Vote Republican" buttons and hope they'll start representing regular Americans at some point.

Dems had majority in both houses for two years and a sitting President.  What happened?  Why didn't get overturned?  What did GWB have to do with that?

By the same token, he could veto the bill as well. I didn't vote for Obama, but it's just funny that the President who signed the bill into law had NOTHING to do with it in your eyes.Btw, simply having a majority is not enough to overturn anything. I don't know whether they would or not but I don't think they ever had 2/3 on Senate or the House.

wtf are you talking about?  you need to go back to 7th grade social studies.  Why would the democrats need a 2/3rd majority when they had control of both the house and the senate and the Presidency? 

According to my calculations, the Poker sites got shut down by the U.S. Government a full 2 years AFTER GWB left the White House and after two years of a democrat led majority in Government. 

Stop blaming the boogy man for everything, btw when the original bill passed a few years ago it was unanimous,  That's right, every single democrat in the Senate and the House voted FOR the bill.

First off dopey the bill was passed in 2006 and then it didnt become law for 270 days, then after that the justice dept had to figure out all the rules for the banks and credit companies to follow before they could even think about enforcing the law and going after sportsbooks and the owners laundering money thru the American banking system.
Why doesnt your dumb ass actually go learn about how your govt actually works.

Nothing in here refuted anything I said.  2006 plus 270 days is still before the Obama administration took over.  Yet despite having control of both houses, they decided to keep the bill intact.  Sneaky legislation, eh?  Must have been real sneaky to get nearly a unanimous vote

you really are a dope and just dont understand how laws work. Obamas admin is just enforcing a law passed by the republicans you dumb ass.  Its amazing how you cant understand that your party wrote and passed this bill, but like i said keep blaming the democrats for it.

Also the democrats couldnt reverse the bill, just because they controlled the house and senate.

75% of a presidential term completed, having control of both houses for two full years, and the Democrats do nothing.  Absolutely nothing. 

You can keep blaming the boogy man from 5 years ago if that makes you feel better.  But the fact is that the current administration (and the democratically controlled house and senate) FULLY support this piece of legislation and will (as they already have) prosecute it to the fullest.
