I probably haven't commented in a Covers forum in a decade, but I feel obligated to give my opinion to a fellow NYer whether you take it or not. NBA teasers are for suckers and I would not heed anyone's advice otherwise. You will lose far more often than you win. Like BackCourt says above, parlays (and teasers) are always a bad bet. On the very very rare chance I'd do either, it's only with "fun" money, and pretty much only in football.
Just take last night's games:
Cle/Indy - Indy had momentum and Cavs had squandered yet another large lead. Indy was actually up with a minute left. If LeBron misses that wing 3, then it's Indy's ball with a minute left and a 2-pt lead. That could easily have been a loss.
LA/Utah - Utah was down 7 halfway thru the 4th and their best offensive option was sent home with food poisoning. They needed some rimmed misses by LA, and for Joe Johnson to enter the hot tub time machine in order to pull out a win. Again, this could easily have swung either way.
Hou/OKC - Granted, with their style of play, Houston is probably not going to lose by double-digits in this game, but they still entered the 4th quarter down before finally turning it on.
All 3 of those teams hit their side without the need of the tease (depending if you got Cavs line at -3.5).
We all know basic statistics here, but just in case...
- 3 games with SU wins nets you +3 units.
- 3 games with 2 SU wins and 1 loss nets you +1 unit.
- 3 games with 1 SU win and 2 losses puts you down -1 unit.
- 3 games on an 8-point hoops teaser (which I've never even heard of) requires 3 wins and nets you what?? do you even net +1 unit on that? I doubt it.
That's all I got. Stick to what you know if baseball's your thing. Just some friendly advice from semi-retired gambler. Best of luck on your MLB season.
