Hey Jay a little advice from a long time local in Vegas, unless you've got at least a solid 6-12 months living expenses, I wouldn't move out here. Having a job already lined up is a great start, but with a nation leading unemployment level of 13.6%, you absolutely need to have something to fall back upon.
While you can get around without one, I would say you definitely need a vehicle. Public transportation is widely available throughout the city, but it is very inconvenient. Look to add an hour or two each way to your commute if you need to rely on the bus. Normally would recommend you try to find a place close to work, but N. Las Vegas is a straight up ghetto. I wouldn't feel safe walking around there with money in my pocket even during the day. Look on Craigslist under rooms for rent in Summerlin (One of the nicer burbs) where you can find something nice in the $400-500 range.
As far as Vegas's sportsbooks, you're much much better off playing offshore. The juice is just rediculous and you don't have half the betting options you get with a reputable place like 5dimes. The only time I ever go to the casinos to bet is when I got something I want to get paid on right away. Other than that if you bet the books in town you're losing a lot of value.
Not trying to discourage you, but I've seen many people come out here with big dreams only to their head handed to them. Let me know if there is anything else you need to know about our great city and good luck with whatever you decide!

Only site I have used is Oddsmaker and they still owe me 22k I am leery of online sites. I also have no credit or credit cards and am tired of people benefitting from my picks! I put alot of time and effort into them and just want to benefit. I would move to Vegas but I do not have the funds to do so but I know I would do great out there. All I have here is my dad who has cancer and I love alot. I just have a talent and everyone tells me and wonds why I am not rich. I have terrible loser friends and just got over a drug problem but finally can see the light. I just need a new job and a means to be able to wager and I know I will be rich...I like to help other people out as well I am trying here...

If you already got the job, you have a chance. Overall, I agree with MoneySRH's comments. residents are not happythere, because they are always dwelling on the $500 they lost last week that they couldn't afford to lose. $60K might be enough if you control youre gambling. Approach it as a treat, not a regular activity. Budget one night a week (max) if possible and for gods sake don't play blackjack. It's like playing russian roulette and you pull the trigger first (taking the first hit). The house doesn't give your money back when the dealer busts. The best thing about Vegas is the easy box (relative to Ohio) but you will need cash, Vegas women are hard-bitten realists, but many are georgeous. The greatest threat you're situation may hold, other than gambling..is a roomate. If they can't control their gambling you may get stuck paying all the rent or get ripped off by him/her.

Got a job offer from Tmobile off craigslist sight unseen with my pretty good resume. As far as money my brother is getting me plane ticket(one way lol). And giving me money to get started for room and food for a month till I start getting paid. I am excited about the move from Cleveland and hope I can start a new life and begin a good future! I have no family to miss and only one or 2 friends I trust here so transition should be easy. Wish me luck guys I am leaving next Tuesday...I hope this isn't going to be too bad without a vehicle for a bit...
Thank you for supplying me my daily laugh for the day.

jayhedd, best of luck to you on your move and nice job on your pics so far. if I could offer you one piece of advice it is to be humble. you seem like a bright kid, don't become arrogant as it will bankrupt you. book a win every day and save your money. I work in sales myself and at 27 years old I know how much it can pay a young person. work hard and you will move up in no time. remember, gambling is a hobby, sales is your career. best wishes, keep up the good handicapping. I will hit you up when I'm in Vegas and I hope you will be balling. Peace.

watch your wallet very carefully---utilitie have gone up 2 times in 6 months rents are sky high if you want to live in a decent part of town-----people can get downright nasty---and have been lately...
i would get a job in a place that has a little more to offer---and bet offshore---people glamorize this city---part of the illusion
this is a city that is always trying to pick your pocket--be careful
I have been here for 15 years---living on "the book"---
i am addicted-----oh well---such is life. go to Fla. live on the beach--
gamble thru Boca or Off shore....Bikini Beauties--vs.
greedy Desert living.......It's up to you...I am old---that is why I KNOW

Whats the latest with this toolbag? Is he still in Ohio with his dead father/step father? Or did he take that "management" position with t-mobile? Its Tuesday, does he have credit today or no? I can't remember if it was every other day that he has credit.Has his brother funded him the money yet? Does he know yet what mall kiosk he will be working at? Is he still drinking Ciroc or has he moved on to something better since he is a "professional gambler" and all??
