The Bears are going to draft Ashton Jeanty at #10, it's inevitable.
shelbyville?

i feel like seahawks were making all of the right moves up until this huge mistake. what teams see in darnold... i don't know. we saw his best and his worst in one season. this was all with a loaded team. he had everything. if seahawks picked up darnold as a bridge for their rebuild, i would say solid move. the problem is they paid this guy 100 mil over three years. that tells me they got their qb if they're shelling out that kinda money. does it matter who they draft? i don't think so. vikings had a top 5 wr and aaron jones for an rb. i have a feeling darnold's cap is the equivalent to derek carr, and he gets passed around just as much already

@JOHNNY_ODAE
Yep, the real fun begins now.
As a Charger fan, it's been frustratingly slow. We need IOL, DE, DT, WRs (!!!), and a TE. Are signings outside of bringing back Khalil Mack have been marginal. I have to remember that our new(-ish) GM came from Baltimore, where they practiced prudence and let the comp game benefit them.
Here's hoping there's some exciting cuts happening around the league, because I have a feeling that's when Hortiz (GM) will start to pounce.

NFL comings/goings:
— QB Jacoby Brissett signed with the Cardinals. He’s had an interesting career:
2016- Patriots (1-1)
2017-20- Colts (11-15)
2021- Dolphins (2-3)
2022- Browns (4-7)
2023- Commanders (0-0; 23 passes in three games)
2024- Patriots (1-4)
2025- Cardinals
Brissett was the Colts’ backup QB in 2017; he came in to play when they lost to the Rams in the 2017 opener, Sean McVay’s first game coaching the Rams.
— Cleveland Browns acquired QB Kenny Pickett from the Eagles, for QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a 5th-round draft pick.
Pickett was the 20th pick in the 2022 draft by the Steelers; he went 14-10 in two years with the Steelers, then won his only start for Philly 41-7 vs Dallas last year. He also got himself a Super Bowl ring. Armadillo Sports

Dang good memory, March 11
So lakes are open, or will be by Saturday in southern Wisconsin. But, winds from hell are coming this weekend. 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45. So I'd rather not take the boat out and sink it.
Maybe some pond hopping Friday as it will be above 70 degrees.

Chargers have made some progress in free agency since I last bitched about it.
Chargers current O-line is the following:
Rawshan Slater (LT) - Zion Johnson (LG) - Andre James (C) - Mekhi Becton (RG) - Joe Alt (RG)
Becton - 6'7", 363
Alt - 6/8", 322
Also, the Chargers have mentioned (before signing Andre James) that they were going to try out Zion at Center. The Chargers also re-signed Bozeman, who no Charger fan was high on. I dunno about the Zion experiment, but I'm willing to test it out rather than have Bozeman run it back unchallenged. Boze is probably listed as the starter on the depth chart, but I'd like to see Andre James regain his 2023 form and start at Center. His step back in play was most likely due to the change in the blocking scheme the Raiders had in '24 (going from gap to zone). The Chargers run a gap scheme, and I think James and Becton are going to be perfect for that.
That right side of the O-line is going to have gaps larger than the Grand Canyon for Najee Harris to run through. Hopefully they pair him up with a shiftier back in the draft, unless they re-sign Dobbins again. (He doesn't seem to be getting a lot of interest from teams; possibly due to his injury history?)
How's everyone else's team doing in free agency?

Ravens scored a decent back up QB & landed D.Hopkins whose better days are behind him but he still has good hands and should be a plus in the red zone, resigned Ronnie Stanley for a hometown discount (whew,I was sweating that one) and have 11 picks to bandy about come draft day.

@Biscuiteater1
Those 11 picks are the hallmark for how the Ravens organization operates. Stack them picks deep. It seems like that's the model the Chargers are following too.
What are the Ravens major positional needs heading into the draft?
Btw, there was some chatter about Mark Andrews being available for trade. (Not sure if I mentioned that in a previous post.) I was hoping the Chargers would be in the market for him, but apparently the asking price was too high for those that were interested. I bet the Chargers offered a 5th rd pick, whereas I would've been happy forking over a 4th.
The Ravens are set long-term for Likely. I believe Andrews is FA next season, so the Ravens may as well wait to have a compensatory pick come to them when he signs elsewhere. In the meantime, he's great insurance should anything happen to Likely, and vice-versa.

Is no one from the PB crew betting on cbb?
Just inquiring. Believe it or not, I haven't watched one second of the tournament...
I'm at the auto glass shop, developed a healthy crack in my windshield. $490 for a new one.
Any bail out sure lock of the century parlays would be appreciated.

Naw that lake is tough. Hard to figure out the bass there. I've fished it before, there are gigantic schools of shad in that lake. Way too many, bait balls that stretch for hundreds of yards. Throwing a shad like bait there is useless. It'd be like throwing another piece of hay into a haystack.
Newton is a really good lake. Braidwood is fun but has been fishing tough the last couple years. I've been to Clinton once, also tough but there are stories of gigantic fish in that pond.
Any who, made it up to Delavan in Wisconsin last Saturday. Caught 6 giant pike, 2 walleye and one bass that was almost 4 lbs. The water was 41 degrees, still a touch too cold for the bass.

Quote of the Day
“If God wanted me to walk, he would’ve made me a mailman.”
Former big league OF Willie Wilson, who walked 425 times in his 19-year career, but stole 668 bases, scored 1,169 runs. He was really fast. Armadillo Sports. Made me think of Cranky!!

— New Jersey Giants signed QB Russell Wilson for one year, $21M, with $10.5M of that $$$ guaranteed; Wilson will be playing for his fourth team in five years. He is 130-85-1 as an NFL starter, 9-8 in playoff games, but he is also 23-32 the last four years.
Giants signed QB Jameis Winston last week, would appear that they’re out of the market for a QB in next month’s draft.
— New England Patriots signed WR Stefon Diggs for three years, $69M; Diggs caught 47 passes for 496 yards in only eight games for Houston last year, after six straight seasons with 1,000+ receiving yards. New England will be his third team in three years. Armadillo sports. Is this news or noise?

So 2 quarterbacks from Pittsburgh aren't good enough to be starters in Pittsburgh.
But good enough to start for both NY teams...
This should get interesting.
