I find it admirable how courageous McTrap is while going thru his transitioning...it's nice that he's willing to offer his zipper skills with the world...given all his past experiences unzipping others, this video was a no-brainer to kickstart his YouTube channel...although, I can't make out any rattling sounds...maybe that's just me.

What else happened in 2008 ???  So politics was just fun and games prior to 2008 and because a black man became President this triggered a huge increase in the interest of politics???  Then that man was re-elected 4 years later, even more interest in politics now I can assume???  Then, after 8 years of "Fox" news influence, the big bad Orange man was elected because all the "simps" were "tiggered".  I am following correctly here?

"Politics Interest" - Voting turnout % of US Population

1996 - 49%

2000 - 50.3%

2004 - 55.7%

2008 - 57.1%

2012 - 53.8%

2016 - 54.8%

Voter turnout historically prior to 1996 was always above 50%, 1996 is only year in past century below.  

What happened post 2000 ???  9/11, big 5% jump in turnout and a incumbent is reelected in 2004.  

2008 ??? 1.5% increase with the first black man running for President.... where is the outrage from the white supremacist's???  Not at the polls.  What else happened in 2008 that might have "shaken the trust of the American people" ???  Great Financial Crisis anyone....?  

4 years later, incumbent Black man is reelected with a nearly 4% DROP in voter turnout....FOX news definitely riling up all those simps these past 4 years.  

Orange Man runs 2016....a 1% increase in turnout, significant???  Maybe... The two things Trump and Obama have in common are that BOTH won their elections with the help of demographics that previously had not seen impactful voter turnout.  Obama had a big increase in the minority (and youth) vote and Trump a big increase in the older white demographics.  These increases in demos that traditionally had not voted in the numbers seen in those two respective elections.

One might argue that the impact Trump and Fox news has had is not necessarily seen within the demos that support Trump, but with the demographics that DON'T support him/Fox news.  As in, Trump and Fox have taken their detractors & haters and fueled the fire.  I mean, there was ONLY A 8% JUMP in voter turnout between 2016 and 2020.... take from that what you may.  Some may say that is fuel and others fiction....

You are describing your opinion in what has directly happened in your world.  It is purely anecdotal.  Not to say you are wrong, but your reasoning of "why politics will never be removed from sports" is based on your assertion that prior to Obama, no one cared about politics.  I simply listed voting turnout numbers and these numbers do not reflect the same reasoning you use.  If they did, then you would have seen a spike AFTER Obama's first 4 years.  We saw the OPPOSITE happen.  Where was all this outrage you spoke of?  I'll play along here so let's assume this "outrage" was all contained collectively, held back internally in every individual within this "simp pop" and even though FOX news had been "triggering" them for 4 straight years under Obama, they saw no reason to run out and vote for Mitt.  Ok, possible yes.  Fast forward 2016 Mr. Orange man.  He was the match that lit this fuse you say?  Ok, one might not argue that assertion.  My only other point above, was that this match was used to light TWO fuses and the fuse that ignited the biggest stick of dynomite was the one that blew up the radical left which led to their crusade against Trump and the deplorables.

This is a secondary question.  I don't think this has anything to do with "why we will never see politics removed from sports again".  I wouldn't ever say "never".  I wasn't alive in the 60s or 70s but pretty sure politics was just as hot of a topic of debate within the sports world back then as it is now.  What was going on back then???  Idk, maybe some things similar to what is going on in today's world:

Social unrest
Fight for rights
Raging inflation
War
Economic uncertainty
Distrust of leaders / government

The "flag flying" back then was often an upside down or burning American flag.  

The t-shirts and hats said "make love not war" or had the "peace sign" going for them.  

Government distrust was high, going from Kennedy assassination to Vietnam to Watergate.  

I'm not sure the people on either of these sides of their beliefs were being labeled "brain washed cultists".  I may be wrong, I am a student of history but was not alive in those times, I'm sure others can speak more to this comment.  

What I do remember though, as far back as my memory goes, is that Republicans have been bitching about Democrats and the Democrats bitching about the Republicans equally.  It is a power struggle, always has been and always will be, that is our political system.  Nothing will change without the system changing, doesn't matter which puppet you put in place for either party.  We live in turbulent times, just as Americans did in the late 60s into the 70s.  The turbulence will wane eventually and things will balance each other out.  It is inherent in nature.
