ECU also started their 2nd stringers in the 2nd half and Memphis threw in their backup QB in 2nd half as well, which is how Memphis got the majority of their yards....dont read too much into it ECU destroyed Memphis

My personal gut feeling is that VT will play this game like a National title game and I really don't think ECU's D can hold up over a whole 60 min. BUT - as I said, I'm in Lu's corner, wherever that may be.

According to Sagarin  Predictor this line is way out of whack.  LVSC trying to bait us to grab the +17 thinking no way EC doesn't cover ?  Whatever the Man Lu recommends is ok with me.

I think we need to exercise some patience with this line and see how it moves during the week.  If money starts coming in on ECU and the line moves to +18 and up, then the House is begging us to take ECU.  If the line moves down, there might be value in taking Va Tech or passing on this game all together.

I'm in the process of trying to determine 2 things.  

1) Who is the real Virginia Tech?
2) Who is the real Boise State?

I feel like I'm getting close.  Virginia Tech's two showings are such polar opposites, it's hard to determine the truth.  I'm leaning on neither extreme for the Hokies, instead putting them somewhere in the middle of both ends of that spectrum.  Nothing is ever as good or as bad as it seems.  It's usually somewhere in the middle.  

We know what we're going to get with ECU.  They've  been consistent since the last scrimmage game of the Fall, and across 2 conference games.  I feel confident that I know what we're getting with the Pirates.  There is one unknown and that's that this is the 1st away game for a lot of these Pirate players.  I do take some solice in knowing that Dom Davis has faced off against the Hokies before in that environment.

I need to determine if that in-between Hokie squad is 17.5 points better than the Pirates I know.  

I'll tell you one thing, I don't expect to pick up my 7th loss.

The talk here in Richmond is that this line is nuts but Vegas isn't dumb. Maybe the Hokies won't awaken from their slumber. I will say this...they have a nice secondary

Really? The Hokies have been especially poor tacklers in the secondary and according thead coach Frank Beamer had 16 defensive plays against James Madison on which someone had a mental error or missed assignment.

Tech ranks 102nd nationally in third-down defense. Opponents have converted 48 percent (13 of 27) of their third downs. Many of those were at critical points in losses to Boise State and JMU, when the Hokies really needed a stop and almost had one.

The 77-yard touchdown by the Dukes came on third-and-17. Not good. And not good news heading into a game against East Carolina, which is averaging 481 yards and 50 points per game in its 2-0 start.

ECU offensive Coordinator Lincoln Riley said that he took his foot off the accelerator against Memphis.  Said they could've scored 70, but he didn't give the team a sense of urgency after getting up big early.  He said it was a learning experience for him and it was something that he was going to take away from that game last Saturday.

We’re going to work on that tremendously the next couple days, as far as our tackling. And we have worked on it. It’s still a matter of getting your head across the bow and doing the right technique and not collision hitting. The things we don’t teach them to do. We need to execute.

“This is a very explosive, dynamic offense right now. I’m impressed. I’m impressed with (Pirates QB) Dominique Davis, the way he’s getting rid of the football. He’s a lot better than when we played him last time (in the 2008 ACC title game) when he was at BC. He’s got great (receivers). No. 17 (Dwayne Harris) I think he’s as good as anybody in the country. He’s a competitor, good with the ball after the catch. No. 22 is a good player. No. 88 is a good player. They’ve got a good football team. The backs, Jonathan Williams is as good a back as we’re going to face all year. So, yeah, they present some issues as far as making plays in space and doing the things that, right now, has kind of been our Achilles heel.”

VT DC Foster thinks that ECU has the best wide receiver and best running back the Hokies will face all season.  I think he's telling the truth.  That's not coach speak.

I'm watching the VT vs JMU replay on ESPNU right now.  I watched the BSU game live.  

I notice that Tyrod Taylor is running for his life against this 1AA school the same way he did against BSU.  Their O-Line is not good.

VT has a problem.  They've always won with excellent defense and an offense that managed the game.  Suddenly, they don't have a defense to bail them out and the offense isn't good enough up front to manage the lines.

Lu just finished watching the VT JMU game, soooo many mental errors on the hokies behalf. the secondary is awful. you think they can right the ship in under a week?
