3 TD’s and 3 - 2pt conversions would be the 24 needed to tie the game with less than a minute instead he chose to kick a fg with less than a minute left for a clean cover. I never saw the line higher than 23.5 and never lower than 22. Final was a 21pt win. The Oregon coach may have also been in on it b/c he called off the dogs in the 2nd half after being up 21-0 at HT.

People on here deny the players/coaches knowing the spread or total. It’s comedy. Down 24, let’s kick a FG for no apparent reason but to cover the spread

Well then if he goes for it people say Vegas paid him and he’s a mafia owned. The game was over. The backup made some good plays. Oregon was still blitzing on 2nd and 3rd downs up by 24. So not like everyone was just taking it easy. Both the backup offense and backup defense were actually playing hard. So the coach has every right to reward that unit with points.

Michigan State jammed it down their throat first drive. Unfortunately the freshman qb fumbled at the 1 yard line reaching to score. They had chances, they didn’t capitalize. What the fuck does a first down actually do? If they score a td they’re going to lose by double digits, if they kick a fg they’re going to lose by double digits.
Oregon has Ohio State next week. They could have beat ucla by 50 last Saturday and didn’t cover. They’ve clearly been playing look ahead for a few weeks now. This isn’t anything new.

Look Hoss I had the Ducks but no fix here, they started subbing 1st string with 2nd around the 7 min mark of the 3rd and by the 12 min mark of the 4th they had dialed it down to basics with foot completly off the gas.

The game was over, everyone knew it. It was 4th and 14. Situation matters too. If it was 4th and less than 10, they probably go for it. But 4th and 14, why not kick the field goals and make the score look a little better. This isn't a fix, don't be an idiot

I get both sides, I had Oregon. The coach just wanted to put some more points on the board, this wasn’t anything sketchy. Probably would have gone for it if it was 4th and 5. Just bad luck and a bad beat.

I am very lucky to have taken Oregon live at -20.5. Have to admit was feeling some type of way on how the latter part of the game went even though I covered. Parlayed them huge with WNBA Aces.
Made up for the screw job on the over never happening on Thursday night. This type of crap will always happen. You just have to be on the right side of it.

He DECLINED a roughing the kicker penalty with 29 seconds left! So your logic is flawed and if he wanted to reward that unit with points, he would have put them back out there for a TD.

They absolutely know the spread. A lot of it is covering for their boosters/backers. They know a cover at least puts some money in their fans pockets and will help them with their job security. Players know they will get more “hundred dollar” handshakes.

Coaches know their fans n alumni have vested interests in the games, and it’s their job to keep the fans and alumni happy…. if they can’t win, they can at least cover

And get the ball back at the 12 yard line and try to score a TD? What the fuck does a touchdown do there? They already successfully made the FG, their kicker is a senior who’s now 9-9 on the season. There was no fix on this game. Simply a team in Oregon in a look ahead spot who took the foot off the gas quickly to get ready for Ohio State next week. Happens all the time in college athletics.

Bingo! More job security when covering for the booster and student body! Thats what this decision came down to!

Dont care how many times a team covers if they do not produce W's they lose their job. Also why wouldn't Ducks coach wanna cover for same reasons.

Why BOX this thread? That alone says a lot. Gambling has become mainstream and EVERYONE knows the line. But you can't even talk about coaches trying to cover, like this coach OBVIOUSLY did.

I'd have done it too, AND I'd let everyone know that I support those who support the program! Watch soon a coach will admit it. Maybe not this year or the next but soon.

So what you are saying is St. coach wanted to cover and Ducks coach did not? There is little doubt that if he wanted to cover they could have. I would be willing to bet that as was mentioned if it had been 4th and 2,3,4 chances are he would have went for it. Kicking the FG there and going home was the thing to do, just so happens it affected the spread.

But then they can't complain it's rigged and vegas made the call
So many babbling idiots about how games are set up this way or that way they never realize that the oddsmakers are really good at what they do when they set lines but no it was set up to fool all those 50 dollar bettors...they need to leave the babbling to the brooks
