A friend of mine is a mail carrier. Today he had to break up a dogfight between 2 pitbulls, the most gentle collie mix, the pitbbulls' owner and the owner of the collie mix.
10 minutes earlier, my friend, the mail carrier, saw the collie mix watching squirrels frolicking across the street. He chuckled and went on his appointed rounds.
He finished his next loop and saw in the corner of his eye 2 pitbulls attacking the collie. Not only that, the owners were on the ground trying to separate them.
The owner of the collie was a 65-70 year old woman. The owner of the pits was a 25-30 year old man. My friend drove his truck to the house and got out and started spraying the shit out of the pitbulls. The owners were both laying on the ground screaming to get the dogs off the collie. My friend sprayed the first pit in the eyes and mouth. Pit was kryptonite. Eventually he must of inhaled enough of the pepper spray that he let go. Then his packmate started the same shit, locking on to the collie's hind end. The collie is just screaming. My friend then started spraying the shit out of the second pit. In the eyes, mouth, nose. Steady streams. He eventually let go. The kid who owns the pitbulls is screaming to get the dog in the house. The collie's owner unleashes her collie and my friend drags it through the door to safety.
The black pitbull runs off. The yellow pitbull is controlled by the owner. The collie's owner has dog bites on her wrist and arm. The cops come. The pitbull owner takes off. My friend gives his statement.
Moral of the story, you can't walk pitbulls on a leash like they aren't dangerous animals.
Hopefully the pitbulls are euthanized pretty soon.

I spend way more time with that breed of dog than almost any other. I can tell you from experience that 99.999% of the time, its the owner's fault that the pittie has aggression and anxiety towards other dogs, or some sort of food based anxiety. Much like children, dogs learn what they live.......almost more so, because childrens brains eventually develop to the point of critical thinking, and dogs for the most part crave to be led. Those dogs were probably trained to be dickheads, by dickheads, and it is a shame that he is probably gonna get them put down. The no kill shelters are way too packed, surrendering dogs with agg bite histories is complicated, and nobody wants the post adoption liability. Those dogs are as good as gone.
That breed comes into the shelter all the time, and after they get adjusted and you spend time with them, they all do the same goofy shit. They are quick to warm up and are really one of the funnest most lovey dovey goofball breeds of them all. Just little jacked up diesel goofs. They are by far the most misunderstood animal on earth. Far from the smartest of breeds, but excellent at following directions. That owner was an total idiot. I know pitbulls that are scared of their own shadow. Probably got the poor dogs ears and tail cropped like an asshole, just to look tough. That poor woman too, just minding her business. What a sad story.
