The line doesn't justify the LAA laying a solid number on the road in this matchup. Saunders is solid no doubt, but he isn't infallable. In his last 4 starts, he has thrown 26 innings and allowed 23 hits, 9 earned runs (3.12 ERA) with a 15:9 K:BB ratio. In his last two starts against the O's, he has lasted just 10 innings and allowed 22 hits and 8 earned runs (7.20 ERA). Burress hasn't been spectacular but he has recently pitched well enough to keep the O's in games. In his last 4, he has thrown 22.3 innings and allowed 26 hits and 10 earned runs (4.03 ERA).

Both teams have similar offensive stats against lefties with no real advantage:

LAA       .271        4.3       0.02 HR/AB

Balt       .279        4.9       0.03 HR/AB

While the Halos are excellent on the road, the O's are a respectable 28-21 at home. It has no strong relevance, but it didn't dissuade me when I noticed the O's are 11-4 on Friday nights. The price justifies a play on the O's.

Price seems way too high and I think the dynamics of the Brewers 9th inning heroics last night to sweep the Cards against the Astros being swept at home by the Bucs with a day off to think about it sets up some dicey psychology. This is the 4th time this season Manny Parra will face the Stros and he has struggled a bit. In those 3 starts, he lasted just 15.3 innings and allowed 23 hits, 11 earned runs (6.46 ERA), 5 home run and a 12:8 K:BB ratio with a WHIP of 2.02. While the Brewers hit lefties, the Stros are also more effective against lefties. The Brewers are 49-75 the past 3 years after 4 or more road games and are 26-40 on Fridays.
