1) Requiem for A Heavyweight (1962). Jackie Gleason, Anthony Quinn and Mickey Rooney. Written by Rod Sterling.
2) One-Eyed Jacks (1961)...Marlon Brando, Karl Maldin
3) Silent Partner (1978)...Elliot Gould, Christopher Plummer, Susanah York, John Candy
4) Sorcerer (1977)..directed by Wm. Friedken...Roy Scheider, Bruno Cremer.
5) The Killing (1956)...directed by Stanley Kubrick....Sterling Hayden stars

I will never understand how this filkm isn't rated among the best. My guess is that because it was produced in Canada, it was paid little attention to by film distributors in the U.S.

Way too bad because it is a great flick.

Others that should be seen, and probably haven't been:
 
The Paralax View - it probably should be better than it is, but it's a really powerful film; very visually compelling
 
Over the Edge - the most realistic depiction of what my childhood (growing up in the 70's) looked like that I've ever seen; Matt Dillon's first film.
 
McCabe and Mrs' Miller (jeez, my second Warren Beaty flick in three movies ) - simply haunting; great film-making.
 
Boondock Saints, Repo Man, Buffalo 66 are also great and quirky.
 
Romanian juice-Guzzlers XVII - not generally as well regarded as Romanian juice-Guzzlers IX or  as well known as Romanian juice-Guzzlers III, but I think the story-line is more believable and the characters are better developed.

The mention of ZULU got me to thinking about another great underated movie set in Africa.....THE NAKED PREY (1966) starring Cornel Wilde who is chased thrpughout the wild...terrific.
 
Shoot the Piano Player (1954).... Charles Aznevour.
