The "parity "in the NFL is such that..in the long term it is almost impossible to win...very efficient market .....these sides and totals in many games hang in the balance...until late in the game
better off in college football, and sports like WNBA. where there..softer markets to exploit....

my close friend who was formerly one of the original kosher boys told me a very interesting thing today. and when i asked him if i can quote him - he said - have a blast at it - who cares? everyone around the teams knows this.
He said as follows: the game was gonna be 24-23 ravens after the steelers would score a field goal and flacco would mount the winning drive. that is why all the wise guys were on over and the steelers totals over 20.5. missed field goals forced the situation out of the hands that still could be helped if not dew renegade "straight" players on the falcons defense who did not allow vick to get close enough to the fg range in the steelers first drive at ot. the over 20.5 was a must and the steelers knew it. but did not happen.
at girst i told my friend he is crazy. but then he suggested i watch the reaction of both coaching staffs before their expected reactions as harbaughs face in both cases the steelers were stopped before throwing his hands up in a faked joy.
well, i did. i saw. but i still cant believe it as naturally we hate to be had. but we were.
i pushed the ats so this is in no way an excuse for anything. those who know me long enough know that the biggest basher of myself and the biggest critic is me myself. just an interesting story

Here's a better story on why TT didn't hit. Scobee has two left feet and can't kick a game winning fg if his life was depended on it. I had the TT as well and it was agonizing to watch. I dont disagree with going for it on 4th n short in OT, but what i do disagree on is the play calling. You have Bell who's been unstoppable all night you decide to do a qb sweep to short side and a M VIck pass.

So your friend is saying the games are scripted and all teams are in it?
So all Players know when and how to score?
Only a few renegade Players did not follow the script last night,so they probably will be cut this week because they messed up al the bets from the wise guys who wrote the script and now lost big money?
Over 2500 people know this and all accept it and keep there mouth shut?
So A: you got the script from your friend and gonna make a killing in the next weeks?
Or B:this was your last week of betting because now you know its all fake?

It's impossible to fix a game where every player is involved, a ref can be in it or a QB or RB but not more than one.
How do you script something where 53 players on each team are involved and coaches, it's impossible to keep a secret with so many people involved, it's already tough to keep a secret between 2 people, let alone the possibility of someone making millions with a book about it.
Call it BS, if anything the refs could be involved but they can't decide a game winning Flacco drive.

Agreed. No way.The sports channels, the analyst's,NFL films, former players,"miked up"injuries,on and on.It is not fixed.Maybe a few through the decades,a coach callin short plays, bad situational defense,an untimely yellow cloth pops out,,ect. But fixed??Nope, just too much emotion shown,to much field chatter from old classics disprove all that.Dont think thats whats being said.At least hope not.Thats so simple it screams of STUPID.Dont think the thought train in this thread comes from stupidity. As Root says and like it or not he is as a good a capper as any,you can know every stat ,every player, the bios of every coach ,player, and what a team did last year, this year, and likely to do this week and you will get your eyes beat out betting the NFL.For that matter any sport ,pro,or college. It takes years of paying and playing,at least a decde or more. Its about handicapping the line.Capping the power ratings, capping the cappers, the public, the touts ,all of it.Most dont hang around that long.Thats the angle i am getting from the thread "owner".If i am wrong then i will figure that out and quit wasting a couple hours and move on.But in the end thats the thing you gotta do to hang around.Know the game and all that goes with it.Could write a set of encyclopedias about everything one needs to consider but it all comes down to cappin the line. How Vegas needs it to go and how they want it to go vs how they want you and your money to go..

i think that the league and the networks as well as vegas should consider few factors before they device their policy about the professional sports future.
1. if they target the stupid and uncanny with the full knowledge that the average american's iq level will decrease with years to come while his financial status will become better against all possible logic - then they should continue to present us with the horror shows like yesterday buffered with ever growing in an obnoxious way commercial minutes turning nfl too into another nba which is far less interesting and far more annoying to watch than european basketball for an instance. if they like to turn the nfl into nba harlem globetrotters - they will lose in a long term compared with more balanced approach not taking the entertainment value away as they do now. because right now american professional sports are all greed and money if it is from the sportsman's perspective or from the perspective of the league. each year it lowers its standards and targets lower and more lower echelons of working class who's mind is being washed daily by lower quality commercials and other bs we are witnessing daily in ever increasing fashion compared to the past.
2. they will realize that the same lower echelon beer consuming and sausage eating working class who is ready to be circused around by the people who have no respect for our time and who would rather make us dumber than smarter - the same dumb ckufs - they are broke and have no money to consume dumb ckuf products advertised and soon are to suffer yet another financial crisis because of pig style greedy mfs running our lives daily and instead will respect our time more and return our love to watch something pure and real - then they will enjoy bigger profits distributed evenly among all of the components of corporate america. but that is utopia and will never happen.
as long as we are told to educate our children that the richest kid on the block is the smartest and no matter how he got his money he is the right one in any argument - we are ckufed

Trying to get on same page phixer.Agree with all of above as taught public school for several decades so i could coach high scool football here in football crazy alabama.Teaching a core subject rather than P.E. makes one more marketable as you can wear two hats. The duming down of public education began in 1996 and got pushed forward fast with Bush administration NCLB in 2001.Over 60% of all entering college are now forced to take remedial classes to get caught up for college work that also is not what it used to be.Many others told me it began way before 96 but i was not in it till then so dont know. But all is interesting and stupitiy abounds.Agree with all.Not sure where your goin with this as it relates to cappin football by far the most bet sport. But do believe i am picking up what your layin down. Will continue to read and see.

narrowing down to our conversation topic of betting football - it all comes down to the painful reality where instead of hadicapping sports, we're forced to handicap the greed and not the greed fueled business wits, but the greed of preying on weak mentally and exhausted financially seeking salvation in a make believe world created in a twistedly righteous way - by shortsighted non believers selling faith as their rightfully owned birth right.
what i'm saying is that in order to handicap successfully one has to think as a top notch con artist taking into the consideration the most hideous scenarios that no one would believe are possible.
the proof - look at my overall record. i did not have to redeposit to any book for more than a half decade. and i do not enjoy the sports for exactly the same period i make money betting on it. because there is no purity in it. or may be there never was and i grew up. one way or another - single player sports to the team sports globally - in order to stay on a winning side - you have to look at all angles and the most important angle is the starting point where you have to consider the possibility that everything is for sale for the right price. and i am not talking about the players or the refs or the team owners or the player agents who can all easily influence the outcome of any sporting event -but i am talking about me and you who let this happen because that is the way we can stay on a winning side. handicapping "that". and "that" is something i don't know how to call. the bias, the entertainment value. whatever. but only blind can say that what he sees is absolutely coincidental

If you don't think a football game can be choreographed with the scripts and play books and microphones and contracts between players and teams and teams and nfl and nfl and TV Gods. Then you my friend are out of your mind. Might as well call it the WWE!

I think you need to slow down on the theories. Pick the games where you think the team is better by the spread. Use the data, how good is this team in general, on offense, defense, the OL line, DL line, etc.

What you're saying isn't necessarily wrong. But you're being a sore loser by wanting to say this all because of the PIT BAL game. Just because you got the garbage wrong doesn't mean you can just start going off about how the garbage is fixed. We know that there is certain things fixed about football. Just by fading the public you can generate a profit; however for this particular Thursday night game there was nothing out of the usual. PIT BAL games are always tight, and the easy decision from the jump is that the Ravens would win based on them needing it more. Regardless of what happened after the fact doesn't matter..If you want to take "That" into consideration then you would know that it would behoove the NFL to keep the AFC North tight, as it brings better ratings when people know the Ravens Steelers and Bengals are in the hunt. Same reason the Bengals will lose at home to the Chiefs on Sunday; they won't let them run away with the division.

What you're saying isn't necessarily wrong, but where you are in the wrong is going off on this tangent based on the fact that you got a couple of picks wrong. You have to get off your high horse and just realize you did a bad job at picking the game, as we all do at times.
PIT BAL was obvious that it would go towards the Ravens. They needed the win more and if you want to bring "That" into the equation, then you would know that the NFL would want the AFC North to stay as tight as possible for more ratings. The Ravens have primetime games against the Cardinals, Steelers, Browns & Seahawks left this season. Do you really think they want them to be 0-whatever going against these teams? Or not be in the playoff race? It's just common sense. PIT was a shitty pick and anyone could see it from a mile way.
You are decent at what you do but understand that even you can have misconceptions about what gambling is really about. Unless you have insider knowledge on what's going on you will never really know what's going to happen.

I've been on this site for a week and I am amazed at how many idiots like blacktata there are out there. It didn't take me long to realize that phixer is very intelligent and for someone as simple as blacktata to think his words mean anything is astonishing. Whats really amazing is that there are so many people like him out there. Its a big world. I'm not as smart as phixer so I rely on his wisdom to place bets not because I have to but for something to do. I assume most of the sheep like blacktata are people that are gambling with money they can't afford to lose. They are the ugly american. Thanks phixer for all you do.

PIT BAL was obvious that it would go towards the Ravens.
