Who here actually thinks Trump can win after his stump speech on Mexico?

Great observations.  It is great to hear solid perspective from someone other than fan boys. 

I think had Clinton been found guilty the whole lock her up might make sense as a strategy.  But that gamble has been a loser and trump needs move on to showcasing his positives.  He isn't going to gain more voters relying only on trying to smear Hillary when she has been found innocent. 

Immigration is not a middle of the road voter type of issue.  While it might have been a winning strategy and spoke to the emotional GOP voting majority that backed him in the beginning, trump needs to showcase  some clear stances and policies that make sense if he wants anything more than fan boys. 

I also think you bring up a good point with the longer his campaign goes the more the GOP will display to the whole world that they want nothing to do with this complete train wreck of a candidate.   It is communcating to the country that they don't believe in him.

Maybe it is because they are butthurt that their party has been hijacked and obliterated. Maybe it is purely self serving knowing they associating themselves with trump will result in them losing any and all credibility.  Maybe it is because trump is the biggest and most successful RINO of all time and not a conservative and it is about values.  Maybe it is because they know that trump would be a disaster as the least experienced candidate of all time.  Maybe it is just staying as far away from the ticking time bomb that is trump knowing he is the worst presidential candidate ever and is only going to get worse.

Maybe it is a combination of a few or all of those things.  But the fact of the matter is that anyone but trump movement was started by the GOP knowing that he had stole the uneducated masses of their majority voting base with his divicive rhetoric.  And I think that much of the country is riding the anyone but trump movement started by the GOP.

Got HRC right after the Republican convention at -220. Won't see that again.

The only theory I can come up with for that difference in types of wagers is that if someone got advance notice on a specific candidates health or ability to run for any reason - the wager is less than something more steady which would be party.  But that is just a guess.

Everyone says Trump won't win, but the odds for Clinton have been slowly drifting for a few weeks now. There must be a good reason for that?

Trump went to a black church in Detroit following a trip to another predominantly black community in North Philadelphia...The black community criticizes Trump for not speaking to black groups ..so when he does they protest him ....Looks like LBJ was right..

Huge mistake for trump wasting his time on this.  His divicive rhetoric has turned off so many African Americans that trying this desperate attempt at damage control is silly, especially since he will likely do something else to offend African Americans and other groups in the future. 

Getting minorities to consider the GOP is a tough enough task based on history and agenda.  But magnify that with the sheer repulsiveness of trump and it just don't make sense to waste time on this. 

Trump needs to stop dividing america and instead talk to all Americans at the same time as a nation.  If not it is make America Great again for some people and not others.  I'm personally turned off about trump trying to pander to one group that I am not a part of just to get votes that he did not really target from the  beginning.  Feels like he's flipping and flopping all over the place rather than sticking with a unified and consistent message. 

Trump needs to speak to the average American regardless of race or other means of separating the nation but maybe this is the key problem with trump, he is out of touch with the average American.  He has never lived the life of an average American so basically he is grasping at trying to figure how to say things that people might relate to because he can't.  So he ends up being all rhetoric and taking points.  And smear campaign of course

DL, I finally agree with you on something. Trump's blatantly honest, anti-PC truth, telling it like it is style doesn't resonate with the illiterate, uneducated, thugs, criminals, moochers, or the PC crowd. It's pointless to try and appease these types of people.

Trump needs to stop pandering to them and strictly focus on hard working, self reliant, self motivated, law abiding members of society. Trumps not going to win those brainwashed with a victimhood PC mentality.

Trumps message from the very beginning was to anti-PC, hard working, self reliant, self motivated, historically educated, law abiding, patriotic members of society. Trump trying to pander to PC-anti-law people, who believe in border less countries, victimhood and false history, that live off the government is just awkward and pointless.

The average model American citizen. That's who Trump needs to strictly address. Forget the other average American voter. Those people are voting blue no matter what. The nation is divided. If the nation was United, then trump could speak to the country as a whole, but the country is divided between the workers and the takers. Trumps focus should remain on getting the anti-PC working class patriot vote.

Minorities and liberals hate the American flag and view America as the racist and imperialistic demon of the world. Trump isn't going to win their vote no matter what. Hispanics want trump to wave the Mexican flag and be for open borders and amnesty. Not going to happen. Blacks want trump to condone thug behavior, believe in the victimhood cause, believe everything is racist, condemn the police and condemn white America and offer them money, reparations, and entitlements for their vote. Not going to happen.

All I believe is the race is going to be decided by a few thousand votes. It's not going to be the landslide arrogant liberals came it's going to be. Give me a point spread line or total of how many votes Hillary wins by and that's a line is be interested in.

I just watched the full 37 minute video of Trump at the black church in Detroit. I wanted to see why liberals were freaking out over it. He looked so genuine and at peace. What an amazing video.

Liberals better hope the state owned media can somehow keep black America from hearing or seeing Trumps appearance or come up with a way to discredit or diminish it. Hillary is in big trouble if Trumps message can reach and resonate with the religious and law abiding members of the black community.

I wasn't really comparing liberals from different centuries, as much as I was defending the word "liberal" from the constant demonization it receives.
 
It is an unfair comparison anyway. What was a radical idea centuries ago, seems commonplace today. What seem radical today, may seem commonplace 200 years from now--that's how mankind evolves. Some will be beneficial, and some changes may be detrimental.
 
Those that fought for abolition and women's suffrage were dangerous liberal radicals in their era. Those that fight for free universal healthcare and college tuition(not even unusual as many states had free tuition 40-50 years ago) are radicals today. Opposition is always for the same reasons--greed and insecurity.
 
I totally agree that HRC has had to be forcefully pushed to the Left to appease Bernie supporters, but that just means she's a politician, not a liberal. The entire scale moved so far to the Right since the Reagan years, that people are called liberal that are right of moderate.There are few, if any, Democrats that oppose war or dare to question our outrageous spending on Defense. There are no Eugene McCarthys, or George McGoverns running. The culture demands our candidates wrap themselves in the flag, idolize and promote the military, and praise God,
 
In our culture, liberal has come to mean giving out handouts to those that aren’t willing to help themselves. This riles up the Republican base and appeals to their greed, leading to racism and division. Then they use the code phrase that they are against “Big Government”, which is a total myth. They are only against Big Government when it comes to helping poor people. They love Big Government to prohibit gambling, criminalize certain drugs, tell a woman what she can do with her own body, tell people who they can marry, and step in to prevent a family from allowing a loved one in pain to die gracefully. What is more intrusive to personal freedoms than those? 
 
Your final statement is also true. I agree with many things true conservatives and true liberals say, but disagree with most everything the Republican Party stands for, and do not consider myself a Democrat for the reasons I stated previously. Ron Paul had many great stances. I believe Gary Johnson and his running mate are thoughtful, reasonable men, and I voted for Bernie Sanders. If you took all the candidates running, Bernie and Gary Johnson were most closely aligned. That just illustrates how we need more nuance, and more than two political parties. Two men, supposedly with polar opposite political ideologies, have identical views on about 75% of the issues.
