Are there times when slow rolling is justifiable?

We all know slowrolling is one of the worst things you can do to someone at a table

Is there a time when it's acceptable though?

Not liking someone, or being mad because you are losing to them, of course is not a justifiable reason to slowroll someone. What if a player is deliberately and constantly trying to get a reaction from you and get you off ur game with constant borderline behavior?

What if a player targets you to repeatedly show bluffs trying to get under your skin and talks smack about how ur losing or how u screwed up, just in order to get a reaction from you and get you off ur game??

It seems to me when you slowroll someone who is doing this, they have given up their right to bring up poker etiquette. They want to get a reaction, they want to put you on tilt, I don't think they can then complain about the reaction they got from you.

are you talking online game or live casino table?To be honest I don&#x27;t have any issues with how someone is gonna handle their cards the only thing that matters is having the winning hand.

The only time I can see slow rolling someone, is to get someone back who has INTENTIONALLY displayed poor table etiquette MULTIPLE times.

Otherwise, people who slow roll online, or in a brick and mortar game, deserve a bullet to the head.

No, it is absolutely never ok to slowroll anybody in poker. In fact ever since being introduced to the concept from Tommy Angelo, I have been a firm proponent of fast rolling. Which is to show your cards first even if you do not need to, each and every time. This assures you never slowroll anybody and always give each player the maximum amount of respect. Poker is a super delicate game with a very fragile ecosystem. You do not want to be "that person" who ruined poker for somebody else because you slowrolled them when they weren't ready for it. Not everybody is a seasoned veteran and they truly will get offended, as we all know being slowrolled hurts if you have never experienced it before.

I always want to be the bigger person, and I will always fastroll, never slowroll. This assures the most amount of people possible enjoy the game of poker, which equates to the most amount of money being wagered through it, which leaves for the largest room for profit for those willing to take it. Don't darn it up for the rest of us.

I think that there are times to use it ,Very rarely but if you payalot there are situations . (personally I don't need that advantage and when it happens to me I don't let it upset me .But it does happen a lot ,if you play in cash casinos games

Example last week TAJ ..Atlantic City . Playing $1 ,$2 cash .Mostly older players like myself , but always a handful of young bucks .

Typical young player sits in and after the antics with the hood ,sunglasses and headphones ,starts playing fast ,trying to push pots commenting on how do you call my river bet with 3rd pair ,it was .a 17% call? When he wins a pot he would slam the cards down ,or when his blind was raised he would do the rookie caLL nomatter what ,whit comments like ,no one raises my blinds (moron) anyway obviously easily tilted person . Next hand again he throws out a bluff with straights and flush draws hitting the river ,a guy who this kid has no idea is a staple in AC (in his 80s) calls his big bluff bet with ACE high but waits and waits for the kid to show his hand which was king high .he turns it over thinking the older guy is ready to muck slaps down the king the old man waits ,even longer until the dealerand the table are like whats up muck or show .He shows ace high . kid goes ballistic about the slow roll . ,. Next hand he gets AQ diamonds I have pocket 10s ,I raise preflop he 5 bets me allin ,I call and beat him. he gone losses his 200 buy in in a hour and a half . YES HE DESERVED IT <YES HE WAS SLOW ROLLED .YES HE WENT ON TILT and threw his money away on AQ . the following hand .. love following the slowroll Lo.l

Slow rolling is not raising when you have a good hand. Hoping people try to buy the hand, and trapping them

I honestly didn't know slow rolling was frowned upon. Good to know. I play with a buddy and his friends every month or so and do quite well. I've always used slow rolling to throw off opponents, and have been slow rolled plenty of times(online anyway). For many reasons its an extremely effective tool. I think most etiquette is horse garbage, and now its crept into my poker games apparently. Glad I came across this thread, I don't want to be the fool of the poker games just because I wasn't aware of the unwritten rules

since when is slow rolling a bad thing and disrespectful?  if you&#x27;re there to make money its in your best interest to get max value on hands you play and if that&#x27;s by slow rolling then so be it.  ive never been upset at anyone for doing it to me and I wouldn&#x27;t expect them to either.  so I cant slowroll someone because they aren&#x27;t expecting it?  blow me... what about the clowns that calls the raise with 72 dim and I have pocket KK and he drills a flush on the river?  that&#x27;s ok but slow rolling isn&#x27;t?  I didn&#x27;t know people cared about other&#x27;s feelings so much at a card table.

Slow rolling is not as described above. Not raising when you have a primo hand is trapping which is an essential part of the game. Slow rolling is when you take your time to call even though you know you have someone beat. For example, after river guy moves all in having made the nut flush, however, I&#x27;m holding a boat and hesitate to call. That&#x27;s a slow roll. Another example, low stack moves all in with 5bb left and chip leader with high pair doesnt snap call. That&#x27;s a slow roll. Not as bad but you get the idea. When you have the nuts and let someone stew you&#x27;re slow rolling them. I don&#x27;t have a problem with it if the player deserves it. We all know who those players are.
