There is no guarantee that one would just lose on a trip. Over a lifetime it would be hard to win, over 10's of thousands of hands. But on a short trip, where one plays about 1000 hands, it is really about luck. If you catch some hot streaks you could very well win money. Then you get up and cash out when you feel the cards are running bad.
If you are playing a 6 deck shoe, you should also be conscious of runs of low cards and high cards. Counting cards is too hard if you don't have the experience. But just knowing that there have been a ton of 10's that came out can help you make a confident decision to hit that 14, or whatever stiff hand you may have.

Gotta use the surrender option. Haven't done that yet. Still learning.
Yes, when you come to Vegas, you gotta be ok w/ losing some dough.
Fortunately the opposite has happened. I started 3 days ago and have been up at the end of each day. You gotta walk away when ahead, and that exactly what I've been doing. So, so far, I'm very happy w/ the results, vacationing for free at this point. We'll see how tomorrow shakes up as I'll leave at the end of the day or Monday morning.
Thanx again.
