Anybody make a living playing cards online? If so, what stakes, table size and site are you on? Also, how many hours /day or how many hands /month are you playing?
 
I'm curious because I'm considering making a serious step in your direction, and I am looking for some guidance and/or coaching. I understand it's not easy nor will anything be handed to me, but I feel confident in my ability at this point - just looking for the next step.

I play .25/.50 six handed NLHE on Full Tilt at the moment. The true problem at this point is my bankroll. I'm sort of playing hoping there isn't a slow roll for a bit, which is obviously bound to happen.

if you are playing .25/.50 either your skill or your bankroll is not even in the ballpark of being ready to do this for a living.....

I'm not concerned with my skill, I just feel like any tips would be helpful. It truely is my bankroll, which I am in the process of building. I understand until it's built up it's a real handicap.

How much do you think you can win a month playing .25/.50 NLHE? 1K/month?

Plus has beating the microstakes made you this confident in your ability?

means going card dead......which would kill a small bankroll....

1,000 a month cash is about the same as workin a crappy job 40s a week and paying taxes.....

sorry to break it to you but this is the true statement right here. the software on all online poker is rigged the same as any online casino. it will hook you up with profit at first to sucker you in, then eventually take it all back plus more if you keep on playing. youre probably not going to listen to this and learn the hard way, but thats your choice.  whatever you do dont listen to chancep. that dude is either and idiot or living in a fantasy world, or best bet is that hes a site promoter.

Yes I believe playing .25/.50 will only net around 1k a month,  which is why I need to build my bankroll. In the meantime, I ought to be looking to improve or understand game situations a lot better, right?
 
To be more clear, I've been playing hold em for about 5 years and online for about 3 years. I understand the online game, I just usually disrespect my bankroll and in turn break even/lose. I believe I have matured in that aspect recently.
 
Beating these stakes with relative ease has given me the confidence to give it a real shot. I believe playing 1/2 NLHE six max or 2/4 HU with around 35k hands a month will net what would satisfy me. Am I way off base?

yes, im sure yout employers at full tilt get a big kick out of the truth i speak, as you well know. thats why you always find these blogs to try and con people into thinking they can beat rigged online poker.

youre so far off that youre in the seats. cant beat rigged online poker dude, believe it. or, you can lose your ass and learn the hard way.

Hate to break it to you, but 50NL is not going to cut it if you want to go pro.  I don't know what your bankroll is but if you want to make a living playng poker you should be rolled with at least 50 buyins. 

Plus you should be rolled for at least 1/2 (200NL)

Whats your BB/100 after 10k hands?  That will tell you how much you'll make an hour assuming you don't have any bad luck.

good luck man but be carful a buddy of mine once won 30k in a tourn decided he was a big pro and lost it in 2 weeks all of it tryin to strike it more $$$ lot tougher in higher stakes 1 bad session you could go broke in no time
try some larger sit n go or tourns to see how you fair or earnsome tokens

No offense soblatant, but that sounds like a losing player's mentality. Are you saying that nobody wins playing online? Sounds completely asinine to me.
 
As of now, I'm a bartender/college student. I net about 2k a month, which works for the time being but most definitely is not satisfying. I wouldn't fully quit working the job I have now until I feel solidified in an online arena. That being said, I would like to pull in 4k+ a month. Sounds intimidating, but I think it is possible. It starts and ends with a proper bankroll, as shark stated.

I think you can make a living off 50NL if you play 6+ tables at the same time. But as someone starting off I wouldnt recommend that.

If you really are looking to play poker online for a living you should have at least 6 months living expenses saved up (unless you live with people who you depend on), if not you arent ready to go full time IMO. I know it doesnt sound sexy but thats the truth.

Steady.... I would suggest up-ing your limits..
25c 50c is not alot, and if you have a solid run of cards, your not really taking advantage of that..... on the flipside, if you get unlucky then your not losing much...

You need to be playing at least 5-10 limit games to be able to have a chance at making a full time job at playing poker online.  You should have a bankroll of around 1000 big blinds.

Actually, you could grind out a living playing .25/.50. Let's say 4BB per hour x six tables equals $12 an hour plus rakeback. You would need a bankroll of about 50 buy ins to guard against big downswings, so that is $2500. If you could keep that intact and just draw the surplus then it could be done. It all comes down to how good you are- have you played 100,000 hands? That is the sample size you would need, to tell if you really are good enough.
