Played in a 50k tourney tonight. 648 people, top 63 paid. $50 buy in. $12,500 1st place.
Chip leader for most of the first hour. Blinds get large etc and small stack for much of the low 100's and 90's. 72 people left and I get AQ suited. Blinds are 600-1200, just like my last post. 9k+ in front of me, middle position
Raise to 3100. Bigger stack (40k?) puts me all in. Pot committed, hopefully im live, flush possibilities and 2300 already in the pot before any bets...I call the AI
Guy shows A10 clubs
Flop: AJ5rainbow
Turn: 10 (OF FUCKING COURSE)
River: nonsense
Knocked out 72.....so freakin brutal, then a measily 5 mins later its down to 63. Would have been over 21k etc.
Its not so much that I got knocked out and didnt make $, but its these stupid beats. This is the 2nd time so close to the money that im an 88% favorite and BOTH TIMES the hands CANT HOLD....I am so sick of cards right now I need a break.
The winds are completely out of my sails. I know sometimes its just not your day, but this is twice in a row so close to the money and with a chance to make some noise....I need therapy

I get hit like that all the time in tournaments, you just have to learn to suck it up. I know it sucks but your money is in the middle more than once during a tourney and you just need a little luck to make it happen. You put it in with the best hand and thats the best you can do. As long as you keep on putting it in with the best hand it will balance out in your favor.
I'm not knocking you I'm just trying to spread some light on your situation. My last 3 knock outs in tournaments were QQ vs. K7, AK vs. T8, and AQ vs. AJ. I've learned to brush it off because I know I had my money in with the best hand. Don't let it destroy your play for the next one.

Sucks as my last two KO's have been by 3-3 (when I had A-A) and 8-8 (when I had J-J). Gets old after a while.
And FYI, when your stack gets to be about 3x the BB, you're committed like you said.....might as well just shove 'em all in pre-flop. With a regular raise, you might get someone to stick around and see a flop and then only play if they hit it. By shoving all in pre-flop, you'll get rid of some of the trash that might stick around in hopes of KO'ng you. You're all in anyway even if re-raised. Just shove 'em in pre-flop.

how come no one ever talks about when they catch those breaks too. Dude, I'm sure there has been some time in the last two weeks where you caught some break too. Everyone does, but they only remember the tough beats, not the lucky breaks that went their way

And speaking of times when things DO go your way, I won a Sit-N-Go last night when my K-J beat A-K. J on the turn. I was a comfortable chip leader, but a loss would have evened things out. Gotta remember the good breaks as well.

Sorry, I meant 10x the BB.

JB..sure it does happen, but Ive had many people watching me play lately and its been bad...I do agree though, most people remember the bad beats against them, however I stand firm on this one...bad beats have had the best of me..so ive stayed away mostly.
Won a couple hundred online thats about it since...not playing much.
