I only play online tournaments with other users. But there is a big difference between online and face-to-face poker.
People online are a little more loose and/or aggressive with bad hands. You can make more online once you figure out who's always aggressive with bad hands.
And it's hard to steal the blinds with online poker because more people call bets then fold.

these online gambling sites places make 8 million a year on average.
I think 8M is a small estimate. In Pokerstars' heyday, they were making about 750K per day.
Online isn't rigged the players are just better. Imagine a roulette wheel, but instead of the numbers being on the wheel, the 52 cards are on the wheel. That wheel is spinning and when the action closes on every street, the card at the top of the wheel is dealt. It's as random as it can get.
Online is better for practice because you're seeing so many more hands. And like I said the players are better. I'd rather play against a table of live 1/2 players than against a table of online $0.05/$0.10 players ainec.

Rigging the games does not make a lot of sense. They make their money off the rake and other charges. And today's tracking software can pick up on anyone getting a little too lucky.
No, you really have to play higher stakes before you get rid of a good number of "any two will do" players. $1.10 games is not going to do it. I'd say $50.00 and over keeps the loons away, although fools with money still play these.

not for the peanuts us monkeys play for.. come on people if you think it rigged then why the hell are you playing. pretty stupid imo to even try to compare live vs online for the smiple reason in a live game your playing 1or 2 hands per hour online you play way more hands per hr.

You just aren't as good as you think you are. It's a long grind but I win pretty consistently playing 20-40 sng's a week on pokerstars. I do it for fun and whenever I cash out I buy myself something I wouldn't normally buy.

Ive played both it would be my opinion live poker is more rigged than online poker. The card shufflers/holder allow the dealer to know where certain cards are in decks and pull them out same with blackjack. If the dealer would hold the cards and deal them out of hand it would be different they use the holders for a reason. Id much rather take my chances playing online. You see crazier things because you are dealt so many more hands than live games. I stay away from casinos all together its like the saying goes those places aren't built on people winning. The casinos know how to get peoples money.

You can find yourself playing a live MTT and not having placed every last chip of yours at risk once until the FT. Chipping up is MUCH easier to accomplish live then online now. Back in 03-06' a lot of innovative players decided to change the game online and really showed everyone how to pick spots to chip up online...but as a result, those spots are seemingly rarer and rarer these days. There's just too much information out there and too much high-level play. Online poker basically evolves itself every six months or so now...want proof?

How infrequently a 4bet pre didn't take down the pot right there. These days you're seeing 5 and 6 bets pre from aggro players that are calculated against other player's tendencies and aggression. Both games are terrific and pretty in their own ways. Both games can be profitable. It's up to you to decide.

I think the notion of online players are better is insanity. that being said to me the number of hands being generated at any given time online will cause the more volatile game.
As far as fixed I don't think it is ,but the fact that there is software to tell you how much I play how much I fold preflop ,showdown, Bluffs ect.. the fact that these types of stats are at someones disposal ,while they play against you is kinda fixed..The fact that someone has software that plays 10 games at once at optimal play is a form of fixed Kinda like the New England Pats way of cheating legally

i like online poker but for any real money i choose only live legal settings. Pureplay is fun i frequent the site won a few dollars but after the burning full tilt and ub gave me i refuse to pay real money to play online poker.
i do play live games but they are not as convient but it is truely are imho straight up game. the house takes a rake and tipping the dealer does lower the amounnt the gamblers will eventual be able but the deal is fair and there is no back door to seeing your hold cards. connections dont fail to push you from the pot.
noone has a running calculator dealing with your handle what your bet is and the percentage that you have a best hand or bluffing.

I dont know how anyone trusts online poker... humans rig everything the lotto, the Market... anything they can... and that garbage is even regulated... I play fantasy, cuz I figure im not getting screwed unless peyton manning is on fanduel's payroll and even then the consequence of that would be limited... I also gamble online, even though I really dont trust that either, since I'm pretty sure if I ever hit a stupid 50k parlay or something the site could tell me to just go darn off... But trusting a computer to anonymously deal me a river card is a little too much for me to fully accept... Do what I do, Play Fan Duel, Fly to vegas for 50-75$ for a day or 2 and bet on games... Play live poker at your local casinos... Best options for not being F'ed over

I prefer online live poker, when dealers in a real time are doing their job. It just the same as real life poker but betting at home. You can be cheated in a real life casino as well. As for online poker - it is a scam!

Playing the same way now as you did 10 years ago is the real problem.
im better at live than online for some reason. i feel like playing in person is an essential dimension of poker. i can do the math and all but the physical presence to see someone doing the motions, i feel, should be a definitive part of the game.
in any case, i don't play for money (due to me being unskilled). i play for the love of the game and it just ain't the same.

I prefer real life poker. For assurance that there will be no anomalies while playing poker. Computer world is a very broad place where other people can invade secured places if they want to.
