I don't know how many Pai Gow Poker players there are out there, but I've got a good story to tell.  Took wifey out this week for lunch at Foxwoods Casino here in Connecticut.  We were each playing a spot on the table and I decided to press the envelope.  We both fired up $150 bets and also put $20 each on a side bet.  You get paid if the dealer gets an Ace high or less.

The dealer turns over a Jack high.  We got paid $300 each on our side bets plus $150 each for our main bets.  $900 in 30 seconds.  Sweet.

Of course I was down $200 when it happened, but it was still nice to walk away up over $600 when we finally left.

Lunch was Oysters, Shrimp Cocktail, Lobster Bisque, & NY Strip Steaks.  It was a nice ride home.

And then you lost the rest on slots and ended up the same $200 down after the dinner ...

Gastrointestinal bliss turns to insufferable indigestion in a 1/2 hour...

Actually Scal, I subscribe to the only Gambling Plan that has ever worked for me consistently over the years...

    "Hit'em and Run"

Like Guerrilla warfare.  Hit'em fast, Hit'em hard, and run like hell with whatever you can grab.  The casinos will hate you for it, but it's the only way to beat those guys.

Fact: The longer you stay playing at a casino table game, the greater chance you will lose your money.

I never get greedy.  If I'm looking for $1K profit, I'm happy to do it in two or three trips if that's what it takes to get the mission accomplished.

I love the strategy but the best strategy is never sitting down at these money shredding games in the first place...

And also, 1K profit is a VERY high ceiling for an average Joe to leave the casino with.

The only way you can do that on occasion outside of your hit in the OP is to go with 1K put it all on one spin of single zero roulette and take your bumps or profits...

Yes, having the common sense to just leave.

So many times at the casino I hear players bragging they are up $500, $1K, $2K, etc.

    BS... It means NOTHING.

You are NEVER a winner or a loser until your azz is in the car seat and you are driving home.

I see these clowns at $10 Blackjack tables with stacks of Black.  They must be up quite a bit.  You feel like saying, "You know, they will give you $100 bills for those chips at the cage".  Some people I guess have to witness the ceiling caving in before they get out of the seat.

What's even more hilarious is that people will be stingy with their money outside of a casino to a hilarious degree.

"I think I'll skip the $8 appetizer to keep the bill reasonable."

    Later that night:

"$25 on each circle at let it ride? No problem!"

This is the same guy with a map from his glove compartment after he busts looking to avoid toll roads driving home in the 90's before EZ pass because he doesn't have enough change to throw into the white wicker baskets...

    Later that night:

"$25 on each circle at let it ride? No problem!"

This is the same guy with a map from his glove compartment after he busts looking to avoid toll roads driving home in the 90's before EZ pass because he doesn't have enough change to throw into the white wicker baskets...

Ahh, the joys of living in CT heading to Foxwoods for a nice lunch and a quick degen session.  Best part of the whole story was having the common sense to leave  ahhhhh Foxwoods the wonder of it all

    UPDATE 5-20-13

Never made it on May the 2nd.  We ended up putting $2K down on a good used car for Wifey which was really overdue.  That left me strapped for a couple weeks.

So I decide to take a short bankroll of $500 down to Foxwoods Casino.  My plan was to find a $10 Blackjack table.  It's Monday morning so hardly any people around.  Only problem was there were even less tables open at 10:30am.  They apparently open more tables at 12 noon when another shift of dealers arrives.

Off to the Pai Gow Poker tables again.  A $25 table where nobody was playing.  I cashed $200 and Wifey & I each played a hand.  Picking my spots, our bets ranged from $25 to $80 each.  A young Chinese girl joins us and cashes $2K in $100 bills.  Where the hell do these Chinese people get the cash?  They are certainly very serious gamblers.

The dealer was cooperating very well with many weak hands.  Lots of Ace-High and King-High hands that we easily beat.  Wifey had one hand with four 6's and two Q's.  We were up over $500 in no time.  Got beat back down to $400 profit over about an hour of play time and that's when we left to have lunch.

$120 lunch paid for in Comp Points I've been accumulating.  Go back to the tables?  No Chance.  This gambler has seen that movie before.  Out to the car and goodbye Foxwoods, thanks for playing.

Arrived at 10:30am and left at 1pm.  $400 profit.  What wrong with that?  Hit'em and Run.

You had a very reasonable winning goal, and you were smart enough to leave once you were lucky enough to reach that number.

Equally important is to cut your losses when things are going bad, and never withdrawing more at the casino ATM after a losing session.

Never hitting ATM, win goals/loss limits, I'm convinced is the only way to gamble. I even have cosmic proof. 2 of my 3 largest poker nights (I realize tot diff ball game than table games, but discipline via a vis gambling same principal) have come in nights that I've run through my bankroll, ATM daily limit, and been on a personal loan of less than 10% of what I was down (once 500/once 1000).

This is life proving the rule: I have probably lost the extra 2000 20x, but I Remb the 2 times I got back the 5-6000 and Winn 15/20 more...oh garbage, this entire discussion is WRONG!!! Deepest pockets in any life event w chance and a pool larger than initial principal will always go to the guy w staying power. Always.

It's good to lock wins, yes...but never leave a looser and never get in more than its worth going infinitely deeper to get out.
