Wow, after 40 years ! To snub your own teammates too ?

Putting your own interests above your team ? But after 40 years ? sicko.

Guess it's typical of the repulsican party lately. Putting their own interests above team United States.

I would have gone. 

No matter who you are how many times will you get the opportunity to go to the White House and meet the President.

Too bad Obama is such a polarizing President that all members of the team can't enjoy their visit to the white house.

And I might add that if Jim Langer (who I haven't met) is anything like the rest of his family then I feel confident saying he probably has more character in his little finger than the current POTUS does as a whole.

Especially after President Obama gave the one's that attended the Kiss of Death (KOD)...

Agree with this.

I don't care for religion at all but if someone has some sort of function at a church and has some sort of religious ceremony attached to it, I go and I don't complain or debate the merits of that situation. 

I go to be around the people I care about and support them in what their doing, regardless of my beliefs.

Is it possible they had a scheduling conflict?

Maybe they didn't realize Obama had any free time between trips to Massachusetts and golf

i have a few very religious families in my neighborhood.  their kids have baptisms and things of that nature every now and then.  i go to all of them.  i might have my phone on checking soccer scores though when they have these things in the morning.  that's allowed, right?  

i don't know that i've had more than a couple of friends get married in a church but i'm fine with that too, although those are usually longer.

Nice try villemure but you and I both know that a possible scheduling conflict was not be context of this thread especially considering the title which states they avoided it for political reasons

They didn't have to go.  It is still a free country, it is not like they were summoned by the king. 

It is kind of petty. 

If I ever got to go to the Whitehouse again, I would put on my Gadsen Flag tie pin  and go shake hands with a man I do not respect nor like.  Not because it endorses him, but because I have respect in myself to look the man in the eyes, shake his hand, and know that I respect the office, and the oath that we both took, but not the man.

If given the opportunity, I would also ask him with all honesty and politeness, if he believes that he is doing the right things for the country, and if his office has compromised his values. I would honestly like to hear his response. 

These men are passive aggressive self-important cowards.

FYI.. Cigarette smoking doesn't look cool anymore. That went out 20 years ago. It looks dumb.

I'm sure they are all adults and capable of making up their own minds about going or not.

Only a poop face sour grape loser would call them names for making a decision not to go.

very true --  but this should also not be spun as if it is Obama's fault either.

They made their decision that is fine. I am sure there were plenty of others who decided to make the trip despite less than enthusiastic feelings towards the current administration.

Part of the problem with Americans is that they put their elected officials on a pedestal like they are God like.
That's not what was the intent by the founding fathers.
Far as I know, Obama and the rest of them poop and wipe like the rest of us.
If I want to see the White House I can take the tour - if it's open anyways.

Not on this particular incident but it's one thing to dislike/disagree with the President, it's entirely different to disrespect the office of the Presidency and the behavior is often displayed by those most self-righteousness persons.
