once among his staunchest supporters, have also started leaving his side.
In dozens of conversations on social media sites like Gab and Telegram,
members of the group have begun calling Mr. Trump a “shill” and
 “extraordinarily weak,” according to messages reviewed by
The New York Times.
They have also urged supporters to stop attending rallies and protests
held for Mr. Trump or the Republican Party.

Good thing that they are crawling back under their rock.

right-wing/pro-trump fascists and white-supremacists, *DISGUISED*
to appear like Antifa and BLM protests,  are now expanding to the east cost
with Boston, MA now the location of post inauguration pro-trump riots and violence.
Their pro-trump terrorism didn't stop at the US Capitol on January 6.
FBI warning they expect more as they have been monitoring right-wing activists
on various social media for months.

The Proud Boys, a violent extremist group composed of some of Donald Trump’s
staunchest followers, now proclaims the twice-impeached ex-commander-in-chief
will go down in history as “a total failure.”
Founded in 2016 as a “club for men” who described themselves as
“Western chauvinists,” the Proud Boys were catapulted to a national platform
for several years of the Trump presidency after consistent demonstrations
and violence in Charlottesville, Portland and Kenosha.

Trump legitimized the group during the first presidential debate when
he would not denounce them,
instead famously telling them to “stand back and stand by.”

The Proud Boys feel betrayed.   Now THEY know how Ann Coulter feels.

I expect we will be hearing a lot more about the rightwingnut extremist/fascist/pro-trump terrorism in days to come.  Including those who think they are clever by disguising themselves to implicate the left.

The Proud Boys and followers of QAnon, pro-Trump conspiracy theorists had anticipated
a day of reckoning during President Biden's inauguration, only to have their dreams dashed
when trump failed to make it happen.

Both groups had pinned their hopes on former President Donald Trump coming to their rescue
but were delivered a cold dose of reality when they watched him board Air Force One with
his family and fly away.

“When Trump told them that if he left office, America would fall into an abyss, they believed him,”
Arieh Kovler, a political consultant who studies the far right, said of the Proud Boys.
“Now that he has left office, they believe he has both surrendered and failed to do his patriotic duty.”

The man dubbed the "QAnon Shaman," who showed up to the Capitol shirtless and
wore fur and horns on his head, claimed via his attorney that he was "duped" by Trump
into taking part in the riot that left several dead.

I guess I saw it differently than that.  I thought it was embarrassing.  All I kept hearing is there are millions of Republicans who back Trump and how the military was going to help him take the country back.  How many people showed up again?  That's the best they could do?  About 75% of Republicans are confident Biden isn't a legitimate president.  So why didn't they all show up and try to take the building over?  Nobody else thought it was pathetic?

the terrorist attack on the capitol rump and the rumplickers clearly incited did manage to cause at least 5 deaths including 2 police officers so i guess some on the right consider that a victory
