Talking about the senseless waste of our money *AND* unnecessary American/allies deaths would put the spotlight on which administration got us into this entire mess in the first place - and no REPUBLICAN would want to do that!

Making this partisan is moronic, the fact we were there for so long is a function of the business of war more than anything else. Corps have made hundreds of billions off this and we accomplished little to nothing but spending money and killing each other.

Of the oft repeated statement that Afghanistan is a war/nationbuilding lasting 20+ years,
we will note for the record that DEMOCRATS were only in office for 8.5 of those 20 years.
REPUBLICANS:
- were in office for 11.5 of those 20 years,
- started our occupation in it and got us bogged down into ill-fated "nation building," - which the American public and Congress DID NOT AUTHORIZE
- ran up the greatest financial cost on THEIR watch,
- ran up the greatest LOSS of AMERICAN LIVES there, on their watch,
- FAILED the original mission --> to get Bin Laden,
- could have got us out under BUSH but failed
- could have got us out under TRUMP but failed
- told the Taliban we were withdrawing troops by May 1, giving the enemy a full year to plot a rapid takeover
DEMOCRATS under Obama/Biden got Bin Laden 
and under Biden/Democrats are ending the costly war the REPUBLICANS started.
For 15 years back in the late 70s and through the 80s
I umpired baseball/softball in the summers (all levels, kids and adults)
and refereed basketball in the winters (all levels, including collegiate)
From time to time I had to put up with players/coaches/fans
exactly like I_Need_A_Detox - where, in their warped beliefs,
every call was BIASED against them.
Whether the pitch hit a batsman, hit the dirt, or their own catcher
had to stand up to catch it, just didn't matter - they scowled in
partisan-outrage when I called "Ball!"
I had one coach yell at me when the buzzer sounded to end the first half
because I didn't allow his player a few extra steps to score on a fast break.
It's always whining that everyone is so unfair to them and allegedly
the whole thing is "rigged"

was not only going to cover the -5.5 pt fav spread but was going to win by 28 pts.

Yes, but many times there is a valid reason for blaming a political party for their actions. The Republican party (Bush admin) got us into this mess and ran two wars on a freakn credit card.
After 9/11 the overwhelming majority of Americans, from all ideologies (parties) including those of us who wore the uniform, were fully in favor of sending in troops to get AlQueda - and especially that bastid Osama Bin Laden -----> but *NOT* another gawdam Vietnam!
When Bush left office SEVEN YEARS LATER we were immersed in another Vietnam, and they had no plans to get us out.
Obama failed to get us out too! One of his many mistakes! ...although Obama/Biden did get Bin Laden!
Partisan blame-game should be dismissed. But often it is bipartisan, like now, where Democrats - including left-leaning networks CNN and MSNBC - are joining Independents in VALID CRITICISM of the Biden admin for a shoddy withdrawal. Most agree with the decision to finally get out. But it should've been planned better and critical arrangements made to evacuate our allies BEFORE making the announcement. I have noted this before. We do not want a repeat of the mistake trump made abandoning our Kurdish allies.
Mind you, in fairness to Biden, trump set this up by not only giving the Taliban a full year heads up to plan for a virtual "blitzkrieg" against the Afghan forces, but he also drew down our forces there to a measly 2,500 - effectively tying our hands behind our back, directly contributing to the messy withdrawal. With 15,500-16,000 troops we could have protected at least one or possibly two more airports for our allies to retreat to and be evacuated *FIRST. I don't know if the Biden admin would have planned it that way. They might've phucked that up too! But one thing is for sure, with only 2,500 troops (thanks to trump) Biden's hands were tied. Once trump gave the Taliban a YEAR to plan *AND* drew down our troops to a smaller number than those who occupy the cheap seats at an Orioles game -- without plans to get our Afghan allies out -- this was doomed to be a messy withdrawal regardless who was president.
The media is not to blame here.
