Yeah am sick of people always blaming the worker for the company failing, instead of the top people who basically bleed the company dry. When gm or any company makes the contract with the employees, you got to have the funds to cover those deals and if you dont then dont make the contract but to blame the workers for gm's problems just isnt fair. For one gm has never changed their model to compete with toyota and honda. They need a whole new line of vehicles that can go toe to toe withose other companies. This isnt the line workers fault, its managements fault.
Then again as our good friend slim would say, its the viagra gm is paying for that has killed the company. The less then 2 bucks a vehicle has done the company in.

I agree they have to change things up and cant keep doing business as usual. If i had to choose between bailing the auto makers out or the aig's, i would say bail the automakers out. If these 3 companies go under the ripple effect that would be created in this country would be unreal. People dont realize how much these companies are connected with other companies across the country. The job losses not only at the automakers but across the land would be massive.
Alot of these other bailouts am totally against and really believe they should just let them fail or be picked up by others.
We finally agree

Those elected officials will regret if those companies go out of business, because the trickle down effect it will cause will be massive. Remeber you heard it hear first that those officials will be kicking themselves should this happen

you just love seeing money taken away from working people. I think you truly enjoy it because your a nasty person. Yup take the money away from the workers and give the fatcats and shareholders that money That will solve the problem.
Never once does cutting the big salaries of the top guys and all their big bonuses come out of your mouth. You just cant say it

and like every organisation, the responsibility ultimately falls with management

Well if the workers have to take reductions in pay, then so should all the bigshots. All the huge management salaries and bonuses need to be cut then also. This cant be all about the regular workers taking a hit, so the top guys can have more.
I just know if the govt lets the auto companies go belly up, this country will be screwed bigtime due to the ripple effect. This is something i dont think any of us will want to see. This isnt about letting some bank go under, this is about companies connected in a lot of ways with the whole economy.
But i agree if cuts need to be made to save the company, then everybody needs to take cuts. As far as retirees go, am sorry but they have got to be off limits because the company shouldnt have been raiding the retirement accounts. You can ask retirees who put in their whole life working for gm, who retired with their benefits to suddenly just give them up. Are these people supposed to just go out and start new careers.

lmfaoooooooooo amazing how you left off one very important sentence off your copy and paste KOAJ.
Really why didnt copy the last sentence? Becuase you are a hardcore union buster, thats why. Well folks here the last sentence that he just managed to forgot, even thou it was all part of the same paragraph. You just believe so much that workers should be underpaid with no benefits, while the owners make all the cash. This is your way of thinking. I have to wonder thou if you were on the other end and working in one of these auto plants depending on it to feed your family, would you have the same feelings?
"The moves now are helping the foreign-owned plants begin to lower wage scales."
I wonder how much these nascar hillbillies are letting themselves get paid?
