New York (CNN Business)President Trump's Thursday night convention speech making
the case for his reelection was

lower-rated than  Joe Biden's speech
one week ago, according to overnight Nielsen ratings.

About 21.6 million viewers watched coverage of Trump's RNC address across nine cable
and broadcast networks,  DOWN  from 23.6 million viewers who watched Biden's DNC
address on the same nine networks.

The totals may fluctuate slightly when final numbers are released later in the day,
but Biden clearly edged out Trump!

The Democratic convention was also higher-rated than the 
RNC overall when the audience for all four days is tallied up.

The president's ratings obsession is well-documented. He has tweeted about ratings

Trash Trump’s ‘Flat’ RNC Speech

Fox News anchor Chris Wallace and senior political analyst Brit Hume ripped
President Trump’s 70-minute Republican National Convention speech on Thursday
night, describing it as “surprisingly flat” and lacking in “excitement.”

The “All-Star Panel” at the president’s favorite cable news channel
largely gave his lengthy and rambling speech a thumbs-down.

Wallace, noting that the “impressive” post-speech fireworks were still booming in the
air, said he “was surprised at the lack of fireworks at the president’s speech tonight.”
Pointing out that “it was far too long,” the Fox News Sunday moderator said it felt
like a State of the Union or even a campaign speech.

“Chris has a point,” Hume said. “The speech was very, VERY long.
I don’t know that any speech that is an hour and ten minutes
uninterrupted by anything visual can work very well.”
The veteran Fox host said, the president was a “little flat.”

Nielsen Ratings said that the first night of the RNC on Monday
drew an average television audience of about 15.8 million people
between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m, The New York Times reports.

This is compared to the average of 18.7 million people who watched the
first night of the Democratic convention, per Reuters....17% more!

10.5 million viewers during the 10-11 p.m. ET hour, according to Nielsen.

That represents yet another significant drop compared to the third night
of the Democratic National Convention, when VP nominee Kamala Harris
drew 16.2 million viewers for her speech.

Trumpers live in an alternate reality where they just twist and justify any and everything to comfort themselves into thinking Trump is dominating the race. It's quite comical. According to them the RNC was the greatest show ever made, while most everyday Americans either did not tune in or were not impressed according to viewership numbers. But then again their argument is probably that Nielsen ratings are made up too, just like the polls. COVID-19 is also made up, as well as unemployment numbers, and angry suburban women. It's all made up if it goes against Trump.

The president was telling his closest aides that he was determined to beat his
rival Joe Biden in the TV ratings. He was requesting daily ratings for the DNC
and insisted that his RNC spectacle would demolish their “pathetic” numbers,
according to a senior administration official.

on Thursday night drew a rating of 14.1, which means 14.1 percent of
homes in more than 50 major markets around the country tuned in.

Joe Biden, by comparison, drew a 17.5 rating for his acceptance speech
at last week’s Democratic National Convention.

the main thing is that anyone who watched all or parts of both knows that the democrats national convention was clearly superior in content, facts, and ultimately public ratings than the loser RNC.

The final night of the Republican convention which featured President Trump’s
acceptance speech from the White House South Lawn, had an average audience
of 21.6 million viewers Thursday, putting it nearly 3 million viewers behind
the TV turnout for his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden.

Trump’s rating, which was the highest rated spot of the RNC,
will also finish well below the 35 million TV viewers who watched him
accept his party’s nomination in 2016 and fall well short of the
acceptance speeches of the previous three Republican nominees:
John McCain (38.9 million viewers in 2008),
Mitt Romney (30.3 million viewers in 2012),
and G. W. Bush (27.6 million in 2004).

..and two of those three Republican nominees ... the ones with the highest TV viewers..lost their elections..
