Biden made an excellent farewell speech. A speech likely noone on the right bothered to listen to.
Biden has a crystal clear understanding of American values (Liberty, democracy, checks and balances on power....). I think America needs to reflect these values before engaging in any kind of pompous, empty empire building.
His warning about the dangers of AI and the increasing powers of high tech; this reminds of Eisenhower's warning about the mil ind complex in 1959. "The oligarchy in America is growing in power,.... and their use of AI threatens our values..."

The only thing I can't get over too quickly (who can?) is genocide. Polls are clear that Kamala lost Biden 2020 voters over the situation in Gaza, esp in Michigan, but also younger democrats......This cease fire is a start (finally--the terms are IDENTICAL to what Hamas agreed to in May, and thousands have died since) I wish we did more for Palestine, but I fear things will get worse for them under Trump. I never thought I would live to see an actual genocide, that this is something to read about only in history books. Don't we have safeguards for vulnerable populations? Palestinians are (as I know them) peaceful farmers, fishermen, skilled craftsmen, and the children are easy going, happy....the elderly very patient, wise.....But the label of "terrorist" has been so damaging to their entire existence now. In a few decades, I fear these people will have disappeared, and both the EU and the US , for so many reasons, will have allowed this to happen. I know these people, and they are very good people and villified....such is how anger and resentment works in the hearts of people.
These 4 years will go by quickly. So I will be grateful for the places I will visit.....Rocky Mountains (skiing), Smokey Mountains (Tenn), Key West, Everglades, Yellowstone, beautiful coastlines, beaches.....Montana skies......these places will still be there.
So as things look so terrible (genocide, etc)....just be grateful for what you have. Don't engage politically with people who refuse to hear what you have to say. In politics, people get so angry, they cannot see anything positive in the other side. People need to kindle feelings of gratitude, to replace bitterness and anger. But they don't, so......
